OHD Condemns the Reported Incident of Sexual Violence Against an 8-Year-Old Girl in Shikarpur

The Organization for Human Development (OHD) strongly condemns the reported incident of sexual violence against an 8-year-old girl in Shikarpur.

Violence and abuse against children are grave violations of their rights, dignity, safety, and well-being. No child should ever experience such cruelty or harm.

OHD urges the relevant authorities, law-enforcement agencies, district administration, and child-protection departments to conduct an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation. Those found responsible must be held accountable in accordance with the law.

We also call for the child’s immediate protection and access to appropriate medical, psychosocial, and legal support while ensuring her privacy and dignity.
OHD stands in solidarity with the affected child and her family and calls for stronger child-protection measures to ensure that every child can live, learn, and grow in a safe environment.

Justice for the child. Protection for every child. Zero tolerance for violence and abuse.

The Organization for Human Development (OHD), in collaboration with Chanan Development Association (CDA) Lahore, conducted two one-day trainings under the project Women Leadership Circle for Community Mediation on 14th and 15th February 2026 in District Shikarpur, Sindh, under the umbrella of AMN RANG Phase III. Each day, a separate group of women from different areas of the district participated in a full-day structured training.

The sessions began with opening remarks outlining the objectives of strengthening women’s leadership, mediation skills, and legal awareness. Through participatory activities such as norm setting (PULSE activity), group introductions, and the “Who Am I?” self-reflection exercise, participants explored their identities, strengths, and leadership potential. Interactive discussions and practical group exercises helped clarify concepts of mediation and conflict resolution, enabling participants to relate these tools to real community situations.

A dedicated session on women’s legal rights increased awareness about relevant laws and available protection mechanisms, while communication and conflict transformation sessions focused on active listening, dialogue, and peaceful problem-solving approaches. The trainings concluded with reflection and feedback sessions, where participants expressed increased confidence and commitment to playing constructive roles in their communities.

Overall, the initiative successfully enhanced leadership capacity, strengthened mediation skills, and reinforced the formation of Women Leadership Circles, contributing to community harmony and women’s empowerment in District Shikarpur.
