Abdul Khaliq — عبد الخالق — جنہیں “فلائنگ برڈ آف ایشیا” کہا جاتا ہے — پاکستان کے عظیم ترین ایتھلیٹس میں شمار ہوتے ہیں اور قومی فخر کی علامت ہیں۔

1933 میں پیدا ہونے والے عبد الخالق نے نہایت سادہ حالات سے اُٹھ کر عالمی سطح پر اپنی پہچان بنائی۔ وہ 100 میٹر اور 200 میٹر دوڑ کے ماہر تھے اور 1950 کی دہائی میں ایشیائی ایتھلیٹکس پر اپنی برتری قائم کی۔ ان کی رفتار، محنت اور لگن نے انہیں دنیا بھر میں مشہور کر دیا۔

ان کی زندگی کا ایک تاریخی لمحہ وہ تھا جب انہوں نے بھارتی اسپرنٹر Milkha Singh — ملکھا سنگھ — کو ایک اہم مقابلے میں شکست دی، جس کے بعد ان کا نام مزید بلند ہوا اور پاکستان کا وقار بڑھا۔

عبد الخالق کا لقب “فلائنگ برڈ” ان کی تیز رفتاری اور خوبصورت اندازِ دوڑ کی بہترین عکاسی کرتا ہے۔ وہ صرف ایک کھلاڑی نہیں تھے بلکہ حوصلے، محنت اور قومی یکجہتی کی علامت تھے۔
