Many companies are asking themselves this question, for they consider "feminine intelligence" — for lack of a better term — to be a tremendous plus. The cross-company mentoring program offers new insights and perspectives in tandem. When Britta Grundke, Head of the Container Service Center at Merck, arrived at the first meeting of the cross-company mentoring program, she went directly to the bulletin board and looked for a certain Polaroid photo: Oliver Jost, 39, from the Commerzbank — and her mentor for a year. Grundke, who was 35 at the time, had hoped her tandem would include a male mentor. “When I was a group leader, I always had male bosses. I wanted to know what makes them tick. I could work out on my own how women ‘function’ as managers.”
