To fight scams, it is important to know the factors that lead to scams.

National Identity Card scams mainly are linked with identity theft. Any person can do fraud, get access to your NIC number and create his own identity using your credentials. Then this identity can be used in fraudulent activities. This can be avoided by never sharing your NIC number with strangers or untrusted people.

There is a rise of sim card scams trending nowadays in Pakistan. Representatives of different mobile network companies have set booths in populated areas of cities where they are selling sim cards for free. These sims are often registered to some other person and thus can be misused. Only get registered sims from the company's franchise and make sure it is only registered to you.

Banking scams include persons impersonating bank staff and demanding your personal information, Credit/Debit card number, One Time Password OTP, etc. Never ever share such information on phone calls, just go to your relevant bank and provide information if necessary.

Various scams include; Attempts to gain personal information, impersonating banks or organizations, threats or extortion, cash transfer or sending a code, and prize/lottery scams.

A scam is any fraudulent business or scheme that takes money or other goods from an unsuspecting person. With the world becoming more connected thanks to the Internet, online scams have increased, and it’s often up to you to help stay cautious with people on the Internet.
