King St. at Simcoe St. facing west in 1927 and 2023.

Traffic was once controlled by police officers who stood in the middle of the intersection holding tall lamps with STOP and GO written on them. Toronto's first traffic signal was installed at Yonge & Bloor in 1925, which marked the beginning of the end for dedicated traffic police.
