Dr. Nousheen Zaidi shared a powerful journey of resilience, purpose, and impact—highlighting how research must directly serve communities, especially in areas like environmental health and water quality.
She reflected on navigating academia, building meaningful collaborations, and creating platforms that drive grassroots impact. Her message reinforced the importance of community-centered, evidence-based solutions and the responsibility of researchers to contribute to sustainable change.
A compelling reminder that impactful research is ultimately about making a difference where it matters most.
Last week, Action Research Collective - Pakistan launched its meal programme in Shareefpura—an area where stunting rates among children are critically high, even exceeding the national average.
Through this initiative, children will receive nutritious school meals along with access to medical care, WASH training, eyesight screening, and essential health check-ups—ensuring a holistic approach to their health and well-being.
The programme is supported through our public fund and generous donations, while healthcare services, logistics, and operational support are being provided by ARC.
We deeply appreciate the dedication and leadership of Dr. Rida Rashid , Principal Investigator of this project and Associate Director of ARC’s Public Health & Community Outreach Department, along with her committed team—especially Waris Wazeer —for driving this important work forward.
This initiative reflects what Action Research Collective stands for—community-driven, evidence-based solutions that create lasting impact.

Action Research Collective - Pakistan , in collaboration with The Urban Unit (USPMU) and , is organizing a conference on Public Health and Environment in Lahore. The aim is to bring together student researchers, practitioners, and community voices to share ideas and learn from one another.
Public health and environmental challenges affect our daily lives in many ways—air pollution, unsafe water, rising heat, waste management issues, and unequal access to healthcare all influence the well-being of people across the city. While important work is being done, the evidence and solutions are often spread out. This conference hopes to create a shared space where these conversations can come together.
It will provide an opportunity to present research, exchange methods, and connect findings with real questions of policy and practice. If you are presenting, you are encouraged to share even work in progress and use the feedback to strengthen it. If you are attending, come with curiosity—to learn what others are studying, how they approach their work, and where meaningful collaboration can grow.
