A Young Talented Emerging Soulful Singer!
Sajjad Ali or any true artist for that matter doesn’t need fame. That’s point one.
Point number two: if an artist’s song isn’t under a record label but is still being used and projected on a major platform, and everyone else is making money from it, especially a global franchise like Pakistan Idol, then how is that fair to the artist?
If an artist’s original work created through his own hard work is being used by an international franchise, then he deserves royalties. Sajjad Ali is absolutely right in raising this point.
The reality is, Pakistan doesn’t even have a proper system to manage artists’ rights and royalties. Artists themselves aren’t properly managed so how can we expect their songs and rights to be protected?
The Pakistan Idol platform should have respected that. And not just for Sajjad Ali artists like Atif Aslam, Sahir Ali Bagga, and many others have also clearly stated that their songs must not be used on the Pakistan Idol platform.
It’s high time we show some respect and fairness to the very artists whose music defines our industry.
