How I get people to work for me FOR FREE!

Sounds unfair and shocking, right? Here is the story.

I started giving free consultations to beginner freelancers about 3 months ago.

Deep down, I just wanted to help as I knew my expertise and insights could be very useful to someone starting their freelancing journey today. I could help answer their questions, clear their misconceptions, and help them overcome their doubts and fears (and also build some credibility in the freelancing space along the way—mind you, no intention is 100% altruistic if you dig deep).

I opened up time slots of 30-45 mins, taking 4-5 consultation calls every week.

And here's a surprising trend that I started noticing soon after:

I often outsource work when a client needs something done that's outside the scope of my own expertise. And I also outsource personal tasks as I continue to build my personal brand on social media.

Whenever I've posted a job or a problem I need help with in the last couple of months, someone who I've mentored would reach out to me with a personal message and offer to solve that problem for me for FREE!

When I'd ask about their fee, they'd say something like:

"It's no problem"

"There's no need"

"I'm just happy to have the opportunity to help you back"

And this is how providing value without expectation yields amazing reciprocity and results.

(I never ask for free work, and always insist on paying someone when they help me with a project, no matter how small the scope. But I just wanted to share that giving out free value brings back more value!)
