Pak-Japan Collaboration: AI Utilisation Seminar for JICA Projects

To reap benefits of the recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Pakistan's National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) headquartered at NUST organised a joint seminar on AI utilisation for JICA Projects in Pakistan. It was attended by leading researchers working on major JICA projects in Pakistan as well as NCAI teams actively working on AI products being deployed at various levels. Representatives of Japanese embassy and other Japanese organisations in Pakistan also attended and contributed to strategy development for AI integration in JICA's projects aimed at improving outcomes and further enhancement of Japan - Pakistan collaboration.

Opening up the gateway to research, along with experience of latest AI technologies, the AI Research Apprenticeship Program 2025-26 brought together young AI enthusiasts from leading institutions at the NUST H-12 Islamabad campus for an immersive experience.

This intensive two-week winter camp was brought together by National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) and AI Hive. Designed for high school students who want to step into the world of AI-driven research and innovation, the program enabled participants with training on how to conduct AI-powered sectoral research, develop strategic insights, and produce actionable, real-world outputs, giving the students a powerful head start in the future of AI.

US State Department delegation led by Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Sherry Keneson-Hall along with other senior members and senior representatives of the US Embassy in Islamabad visited Pakistan's National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI). The delegation was briefed on NCAI activities and Pakistan's AI landscape by Chairman NCAI & Founder RISE Lab Prof Dr Yasar Ayaz (Pride of Performance). Discussions centred around Pakistan - US collaborations in AI with a particular focus around education, digital learning, cultural affairs.

The AI Research Apprenticeship Program is an intensive two-week winter camp designed for high school students who want to step into the world of AI-driven research and innovation. This immersive experience teaches participants how to conduct AI-powered sectoral research, develop strategic insights, and produce actionable, real-world outputs.

Hosted by AI Hive, an NCAI spinoff actively working on national and international research, policy, and innovation initiatives, the program focuses on strategic thinking, sectoral depth, and global relevance — giving students a powerful head starts in the future of AI.
