This is a case reported by The NY Times of a young female in her 20s contracted COVID in its most severe form in 2020.
The severe cytokine storm basically obliterated her lungs requiring CMO. Her only chance for survival was a double lung transplant which they did do at Northwestern.
If you see the lung on the right patients lung that was removed), the whole thing is inflamed, scarred, and just yucky.
Nothing like the one on the left which is soft, smooth, and able to aerate like a balloon.
Per the transplant surgeon Dr. Ankit Bharat, this was "the sickest patient whom he had ever given a transplant." Because of all the inflammation, the lungs were
"completely plastered to tissue around them, the heart, the chest wall and diaphragm." This was the first case of irreversible COVID damage that was salvaged by a lung transplant in the USA.
Given her young age and healthy status otherwise it was worth the effort. Let's hope she recovers. This may not be an option for most patients, but perhaps it could save a few young healthy ones who were at the right place who would otherwise die if no options remained.
So just in case anyone still thinks COVID was just the flu....It ain't.

Ileostomy:
leostomy is a surgical opening constructed by bringing the distal end of small intestine (the ileum) out onto the surface of the skin, Intestinal waste passes out of the ileostomy stoma and is collected in an artificial external pouching system which is adhered to the skin (as in the photo above).
Ileostomies are usually sited above the groin on the right hand side of the abdomen.
โขSo why ileostomy.?
lleostomy is performed in diseases of the large intestine which may require its surgical removal including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, familial adenomatous polyposis, total colonic Hirschsprung's disease and colorectal cancer.

This signifies and marks the beginning of a new life (if got fertilized).
This egg cell contain half of the genetic code required to generate a human being. When united with a s***m cell, this egg will transform into a zygote and then into a new individual.

An eye catching view of the cerebellum.
Cerebellum is an important part of our brain, situated above the medulla oblongata and beneath the cerebrum in humans.
The cerebellum regulates muscle tone, coordinates overall body movements and helps maintain posture and balance.
It does not initiate movements, but is responsible for their smooth and balanced ex*****on, for maintaining muscle tension and making movements work together in complex action such as walking.
It comprises approximately 10% of the brain's volume, contains at least half its neurons and is connected to the brain stem via three maior bundles of input and output fibers called peduncles.
Cerebellar syndromes can be divided into symptoms arising from damage to the midline structures or hemispheric structures, although there is significant clinical overlap between these syndromes. The midline cerebellar structures are critical for motor ex*****on, rapid and slow eye movements, balance/lower extremity coordination, and vestibular function. Damage to the midline of the cerebellum tends to produce gait ataxia and imbalance, truncal ataxia, dysmetria, ocular findings, head bobbing, and vertigo.
The cerebellar hemispheres are largel concerned with motor planning and coordination of complex tasks.
Damage to one hemisphere leads to symptoms that are most notable in the ipsilateral limbs.
Characteristics of cerebellar disease are;
โขAsthenia (Loss of muscle strength).
โขHypotonia of overall body muscles.
โขGait becomes drunken person like.
โขNystagmus (Rapid eye movement).
โขAtaxia (Incoordinated movements).
โขVocal changes.

What you're looking at is an x-ray of an individual in an extreme pose of spinal extension!
Contortionists excel at extreme physical flexibility. They twists and bends their body into strange and unnatural positions.
Note how the thoracic spine stayed almost completely straight.
Contortionists, gymnasts, dancers, yogis, all of these athletes excel at their sport with exceptional spinal flexibility. But at what cost?
The spine forms the central axis of the skeleton, supports the skull, and gives attachment to the thoracic cage, pectoral girdle, and upper limb. It combines strength with great flexibility as it has many joints close together.
Movements of the spine are possible due to intervertebral discs, and with the fulcrum of movement occurring primarily around the nucleus pulposus. Specialized motion occurs at the atlanto-occipital and atlantoaxial joints, which do not contain a disc.
Flexion and extension are common to all parts of the spine; a significant degree of flexion/extension can be achieved at the atlanto-occipital joint, cervical and lumbar spine, but is restricted in the thoracic spine.
Lateral flexion is free at the atlanto-occipital joint, cervical and lumbar spine, but less free in the thoracic spine.
Rotation is greatest at the specialized atlantoaxial articulations, and to a lesser degree in the cervical and lumbar spine.
A medical publication from 2008 suggests that long-term damage to the spine is common in long-term contortion practitioners. A study of five practitioners using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by Peoples et al, documented limbus vertebrae, intervertebral disc bulges, and disc degeneration. Three of the five practitioners also reported back pain.
So such activities are never to be practiced without excellent skills.

Caput medusae:
Engorged veins throughout the abdomen!
This is Caput medusae, also called the palm tree sign, which is the appearance of distended and engorged superficial epigastric veins, which are seen radiating from the umbilicus across the abdomen.
Caput medusae is essentially seen in patients with progressive and severe portal hypertension, a condition defined as elevation of the hepatic venous pressure gradient to >5mmHg (the normal pressure), which occurs as a consequence of cirrhosis.
The mechanism includes increased intrahepatic resistance to the passage of blood flow through the liver together with increased splanchnic blood flow due to vasodilatation within the splanchnic vascular bed.
The increased pressure is transmitted to collateral venous channels which are dilated and seen on the abdominal skin.

Hemopericardium : Blood in the pericardial sac of the heart.
This is demonstrated by the dark blood in the pericardial sac opened at autopsy.
Penetrating trauma or massive blunt force trauma to the chest causes a rupture of the myocardium and/or coronary arteries with bleeding into the pericardial cavity.
The extensive collection of blood in this closed space leads to cardiac tamponade. A pericardiocentesis, with needle inserted into the pericardial cavity, can be a diagnostic procedure.
