Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday called for a “more democratic, representative, and accountable” United Nations Security Council (UNSC), warning that unilateralism and selective application of international law were undermining global stability.
Speaking at a meeting of the Group of Friends of Global Governance at the United Nations, Dar said the international community was facing “multiple and interconnected crises”, including conflicts, climate emergencies, food insecurity, and governance challenges linked to emerging technologies.

Pakistan and China reached a “new broad consensus” on further deepening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, with both sides agreeing to “move faster to build an even closer China-Pakistan Community with a shared future in the new era.”
“The two sides engaged cordially and reached a new broad consensus on further deepening the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and on international and regional issues of mutual interest,” said a joint statement issued on Tuesday as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded his four-day official visit to China on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

A fire has broken out at three separate locations in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, triggering a major emergency response.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday imposed a permanent ban on campaigns involving the poisoning, shooting or killing of stray dogs by any means in the federal capital.
The court observed that only a designated veterinary doctor may certify whether a dog is rabid or terminally ill and, if necessary, euthanise it through a medically approved procedure.
The court also directed the authorities to adopt the scientific "trap, sterilise and vaccinate" method to control the stray dog population.

ISLAMABAD: Summer vacations were announced on Wednesday for Islamabad Model Schools, colleges and other federal educational institutions which will continue from May 25 to July 31, 2026.
According to a notification issued today, the institutions will reopen on August 3, 2026.
However, the notification also underscored that heads of all the said institutions as well as administrative staff will continue to perform official duties from 9am to 1pm during these holidays.
The notification further said that coaching classes for students of grades 10 and 11 will be arranged during June and July.
Some places become routines.

in collaboration with (PFF), hosted a special ceremony in Islamabad to launch the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighting the cultural and economic connections fostered by the global tournament.
The event was hosted by US Chargé d'Affaires Natalie Baker and PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani, who welcomed chief guest Hanif Abbasi, Federal Minister for Railways, alongside Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, representatives of leading football manufacturing firms, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, diplomats and members of Pakistan's sporting community. Approximately 150 guests attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Chargé d'Affaires Natalie Baker said President Donald Trump had described the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to showcase the United States, particularly as the country prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4.

On May 19, 2026, an Islamabad sessions court sentenced 23-year-old Umar Hayat to death for the 2025 murder of teenage social media influencer Sana Yousaf.
Hayat was convicted after traveling to Islamabad and fatally shooting the 17-year-old at her home following her repeated rejections of his advances. Along with the death penalty under Section 302(b), the court imposed severe fines, financial compensation for the family, and 10-year prison terms for robbery and defamation. While the defense claimed false implication, the court finalized the ruling based on eyewitness accounts and evidence, pending final confirmation by the Islamabad High Court.
