Project Description:

The BASALT HOUSE, is a recently completed masterpiece that showcases our studio's innovative approach to design. ​The house stands as a sophisticated exploration of materiality, where the primitive strength of stone meets the precision of modern geometric intervention. The residence is defined by its namesake cladding—dark, linear basalt stone laid in a rhythmic, diagonal orientation that transforms the facade into a tactile canvas for shifting shadows. This deliberate texturing allows the structure to feel anchored to the earth, yet dynamic as the sun tracks across its multi-planar surfaces.

​The architectural language is one of controlled transparency and layered privacy. A formidable stone perimeter wall gives way to a soaring, double-height timber portal, creating a warm, organic counterpoint to the cool grey tones of the basalt. Inside, the design pivots toward an airy, light-filled volume. The interior is characterized by a dramatic central double height lobby, where a sculptural spiral chandelier acts as a focal point, suspended above polished marble floors and rich wooden walkways.

​Large-format glazing and deep-set terraces blur the boundaries between the lush, manicured landscape and the minimalist interior. By balancing the "heavy" presence of monolithic stone with "light" elements like glass balustrades and louvered overhangs. Metal shades are integrated into the facade, enhancing its dimensionality and casting intriguing shadows that accentuate the stonework. The interplay of materials—smooth polished stone, rugged bush hammered surfaces, slender strip detailing, and metallic elements—results in a dynamic, multi-layered exterior that embodies modern sophistication and craftsmanship.

Introducing our latest masterpiece – a striking terracotta‑hued residence that blends modern sculptural form with organic warmth. The undulating façade, crafted from smooth terracotta plaster, creates a dynamic play of light and shadow, giving the house a timeless, earthy elegance. Accented with raw bamboo lattice, the design celebrates texture contrast and sustainable materials. Set along a quiet street, this architectural statement transforms its context, adding character to the neighborhood while harmonizing with the surrounding environment.

The Basalt House, located in F-8/3, Islamabad, is a recently completed masterpiece that showcases our studio's innovative approach to design. This striking, bold residence features a facade crafted with extensive experimentation in basalt stone, used in diverse textures and applications. The exterior blends *pished* (polished) basalt surfaces with *bush hammered* finishes, alongside sleek 2-inch wide basalt strips that create rhythmic linear accents, adding texture and depth to the overall composition.
