Children with autism may notice and respond to the emotions, tone, facial expressions, and energy around them more than we realize. ๐
The way we communicate matters. A calm voice, patient approach, supportive body language, and positive environment can help children feel safe, understood, and connected.
Instead of focusing only on what a child says or does, letโs also pay attention to what they may be experiencing and communicating through their behavior. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, emotional connection, and understanding. ๐ฑ
At Autism Inclusive Movement, we believe in creating supportive spaces where every child is understood, respected, and encouraged to thrive.
๐ฃ๏ธ Speech Therapy | Oral Motor Tongue Exercises
Tongue movements play an important role in oral motor development, speech clarity, and swallowing skills. These simple exercises can help children develop better tongue strength, coordination, and mobility when practiced appropriately under the guidance of a speech-language therapist.
โจ Benefits of Oral Motor Tongue Exercises:
1๏ธโฃ Helps improve oral strength
2๏ธโฃ Supports muscular coordination and tongue mobility
3๏ธโฃ May support clearer production of speech sounds
4๏ธโฃ Supports skills involved in swallowing
๐
Tongue Movement Exercises:
โฌ๏ธ Upward: Move the tongue towards the upper lip
โฌ๏ธ Downward: Move the tongue towards the lower lip
โ๏ธ Tongue Lateralization:
โก๏ธ Move the tongue towards the right side
โฌ
๏ธ Move the tongue towards the left side
Regular, age-appropriate practice can support oral motor skills and functional communication. For children with speech or feeding concerns, professional assessment is recommended.

Learning numbers, alphabets and colours is importantโbut so are the skills that help a child communicate in everyday life. โค๏ธ
Being able to ask for water, food, help, a break, or make a choice can make daily routines easier and support greater independence. ๐ป
Communication is more than speaking. Itโs about expressing needs, making choices, connecting with others and sharing feelings.
Letโs build both life skills and academic skills, because every child deserves the opportunity to communicate, connect and grow. ๐โค๏ธ
