The President of the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation, Nawab Furqan Khan, has expressed deep concern and strong disappointment over the decisions taken in the 36th Board Meeting of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), in which the Pakistan Padel Federation was reportedly granted interim affiliation.

He stated that this decision appears to be a clear violation of Pakistan’s National Sports Policy and the Public Notice/Circular No. F.20-2/2022-PSB(NF) dated 27 January 2026 issued by the Pakistan Sports Board, which clearly outlines mandatory affiliation requirements, including SECP registration, performance record, and completion of all administrative and legal formalities. Ignoring these fundamental conditions while granting interim affiliation raises serious questions over transparency, consistency, and fairness.

Nawab Furqan Khan further said that Rule 20 of the PSB Constitution provides a clear framework for affiliation, and any deviation from it not only damages the credibility of the institution but also creates uncertainty for other sports federations across the country.

He added that the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation has been applying for affiliation for several years despite fulfilling all legal requirements, yet it has continuously been ignored. The federation also faced unnecessary obstacles in obtaining NOCs and was forced to approach the court, where the Honourable High Court issued orders in its favour. Despite this, delays and procedural hurdles continued to be imposed by the Pakistan Sports Board. While complete applications are being ignored on one hand, new federations are being granted affiliation on the other, which is a clear injustice.

Nawab Furqan Khan raised the question: Has Mansoor Ali Khan or Jahangir Khan ever played padel? Have they fulfilled all requirements of the National Sports Policy and PSB Constitution for interim affiliation? If not, then on what basis has this relaxation been granted? He stated that this reflects clear bias, favoritism, and a serious violation of merit.

He further added that PSB actions include granting affiliation to federations without complete documentation, making decisions based on preference instead of merit, restricting athletes from international opportunities through NOCs, and depriving medal-winning athletes since 2014 of their due recognition and rewards. All these actions reflect misuse of authority and blatant injustice.

The Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation demands an immediate review of the decision regarding interim affiliation, strict implementation of the National Sports Policy and constitutional requirements, equal and transparent treatment of all federations, immediate approval of the long-pending affiliation application of PMWF, and redressal of injustices faced by athletes.

Nawab Furqan Khan stated that the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation remains committed to promoting traditional sports in the country and believes in transparency, merit, and the rule of law. However, if injustice continues, the federation will be compelled to pursue all legal and constitutional avenues to protect its rights.

MoU Signed to Support Asian Mas-Wrestling Championship 2026

Islamabad — During the launching ceremony of the Dangal World Cup, Nawab Furqan Khan, President of the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Syed Peer Ali Kazmi, Chairman of Ring of Pakistan, to collaborate and support the Asian Mas-Wrestling Championship 2026.

The championship will be hosted in Lahore, Pakistan, from 10 to 15 May 2026, with participation from more than 15 countries across Asia. This partnership represents a significant milestone in strengthening event organization and promoting Mas-Wrestling and traditional sports in Pakistan.

Nawab Furqan Khan expressed sincere gratitude to CEO Imran Shah, Shahid Babar Pehlwan, Hamza Pehlwan, and their entire team for their massive support and continued commitment to the development of indigenous and traditional sports.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision to elevate Pakistan’s presence on the international Mas-Wrestling platform.
