Silence is Not Safety. Why Pakistan's Freedom of Speech is Under Threat.

Freedom of opinion and expression is the bedrock of fundamental rights. If a country is meant to uphold the rights of its citizens, the freedom to speak must be protected at�all costs.
In Pakistan, while the legal framework grants us broad freedom of expression, the ground reality is different. We see officers operating with unofficial exemptions, even for their subordinates. Take the recent incident in Gilgit-Baltistan: a journalist was subjected to intense scrutiny over a report, resulting in a third extension of his remand.
This is a clear signal that the protection of free speech is conditional, not absolute.
Today, we stand in solidarity with Adnan Rawat for championing these essential freedoms.

جمعیت علمائے اسلام گلگت بلتستان سے خواتین نشستوں کےلئے کاغذات نامزدگی جمع کرانے والی ثمرین نگری کو غیر معمولی پذیرائی ملی ہے جسے گلگت بلتستان کے سیاسی پس منظر میں ایک نیا اور مثبت پہلو سمجھا جارہا ہے۔ تاہم اب ایک خبر سامنے آئی ہے جس کے تحت وہ جی بی اسمبلی کی خواتین نشست کےلئے نااہل ہے۔ انتہائی معتبر ذرائع سے وطین ڈیجیٹل کو معلوم ہوا ہے کہ خواتین نشست کی امیدوار ثمرین نگری کے کاغذات نامزدگی کے مطابق ان کے پیدائش کا سال 2004 ہے جبکہ خواتین نشست کےلئے کم از کم 25 سال حد مقرر کی گئی ہے۔ اس خبر کے بعد ثمرین نگری کے چاہنے والوں میں مایوسی پھیل گئی ہے

عدنان راوٹ کا کیا قصور ہے کہ پہلے اس پر انسداد دہشتگردی کا پرچہ درج کرلیا گیا پھر 14 دن کی ریمانڈ منظور کرلی گئی، پھر دوسری بار 14 دن کی ریمانڈ منظور کرلی گئی پھر 11 دن کی تیسری ریمانڈ منظور کرلی گئی۔ اگر عدنان راوٹ کا قلم نہیں ٹوٹا ہے تو جج صاحب اپنا قلم توڑ کر تسلی کریں۔

2. Hakimullah Mehsud leads mentions— reflecting his continued symbolic weight in TTP's historical narrative. Sheikh Khalid Haqqani's strong showing (16) is notable given his operational rather than ideological profile, while M***i Noor Wali, the current emir, appears fourth in total mentions.
