As the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly election campaign entered its final phase, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon staged a major election power show in Skardu, attended by a large number of party leaders, workers, supporters and local residents.

A large convoy of vehicles and motorcycles participated in the rally, while party workers carrying flags displayed enthusiasm and energy to the tunes of election songs.

Reception camps were set up at various points along the rally route, where supporters welcomed the convoy. Election songs and slogans added to the charged atmosphere, with participants chanting slogans in support of the party candidate.

According to party workers, the large public turnout at the rally reflects people's confidence in Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.

: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Khan Afridi, has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit Baltistan, calling for transparency, impartiality, and the protection of the public mandate in the upcoming Gilgit Baltistan Assembly elections.

In his letter, the Chief Minister expressed concerns regarding the electoral process and emphasized the need to ensure adherence to the rule of law, constitutional requirements, and the election code of conduct throughout the polling process.

Sohail Khan Afridi stated that free, fair, and transparent elections are the cornerstone of a democratic system and stressed that all political parties and candidates should be provided with equal opportunities. He also called for preventing any form of undue influence or interference in the electoral process.

The Chief Minister urged the Chief Justice to ensure that relevant institutions fulfill their constitutional and legal responsibilities and take necessary measures to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

Political activity has intensified across Gilgit Baltistan ahead of the 2026 elections, with various political stakeholders raising concerns and demands regarding the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.

: The Chief Secretary has taken strict notice of the alleged replacement of solar plates in Ghanche and ordered an immediate suspension of the distribution process.

According to sources, complaints regarding serious irregularities and alleged tampering in the project prompted the Chief Secretary to seek a detailed report from the concerned authorities.

Sources said public complaints raised concerns over the quality and replacement of solar plates, after which an investigation was initiated.

The Chief Secretary has directed officials to halt further distribution of solar plates until the inquiry report is completed.

: Raza-ul-Haq, candidate from Ghanche Constituency No. 1, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming elections and declared support for Ibrahim Sanai.

According to sources, after meetings with Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister Amir Muqam, he decided to withdraw from the electoral race and extend full support to the Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate.

Sources further stated that Raza-ul-Haq has also parted ways with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.

: Pakistan Air Force organized the “Maarka-e-Haq Free Medical Camp” in the remote area of Ringah, Skardu under the special directives and welfare vision of Chief of the Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

The free medical camp was arranged on May 19 by the medical team of Pakistan Air Force Base Qadri Skardu under the supervision of the Base Commander, where hundreds of patients received free medical check-ups.

A large number of local residents, including children, women, and elderly people, benefited from the camp. Free medical consultation, diagnosis, and medicines were also provided to the patients.

Specialist doctors and medical staff of Pakistan Air Force examined patients suffering from various diseases. Local residents appreciated the initiative and said such welfare programs are a great relief for people living in remote areas.

Community elders and beneficiaries thanked Pakistan Air Force and Chief of the Air Staff for the initiative, calling it a practical example of public service and humanitarian commitment.
