B**g Go reinforces commitment to community recovery, livelihood protection, and fire preparedness as team assists affected Valenzuela City vendors

Senator Christopher “B**g” Go, on Monday, August 3, underscored the importance of helping communities recover from fire incidents while safeguarding the livelihoods of small entrepreneurs, as his Malasakit Team extended assistance to families affected by a fire at the VGC Bazaar in Barangay Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City.

"Importante po sa akin ang buhay at kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino. Sabi ko nga, ang gamit ay mabibili natin 'yan, ang pera ay kikitain natin 'yan kung magsusumikap tayo. Pero ang buhay, hindi po nabibili. Importante pong buhay tayo, at kilala po ang mga Pilipino sa pagtutulungan," Go said in a video call.

Go emphasized that for many families, especially the affected bazaar vendors, disasters not only destroy property but also deprive them of their primary source of income. He said government assistance should therefore focus not only on immediate relief but also on helping affected individuals rebuild their livelihoods as quickly as possible.

During the relief activity held at the Ginebra Court in Barangay Paso de Blas, Go's Malasakit Team assisted 156 fire-affected bazaar vendors.

Each family received grocery packs, snacks, pens, vitamins, basketballs and volleyballs. Selected beneficiaries also received shoes, a mobile phone, or a bicycle to help address their immediate needs.

The senator has long advocated policies that promote local economic development and strengthen opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He co-sponsored and is one of the authors of Republic Act No. 11960, or the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines Act, which institutionalizes support for locally made products by enhancing product development, marketing, innovation, and market access for MSMEs and community-based enterprises.

At the same time, Go stressed that recovery efforts must go hand in hand with stronger disaster preparedness and fire prevention measures to better protect lives and livelihoods.

Recognizing the support of the local government, Go thanked Congressman Gerard Galang, Mayor Wes Gatchalian and Vice Mayor Marlon Alejandrino for their continued service to the people of Valenzuela.

B**g Go joins Governor Generoso’s 78th founding anniversary and State of the Municipality Address, highlights barangay services, healthcare, and local development

Senator Christopher “B**g” Go joined residents and local officials in commemorating the 78th founding anniversary of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, during a program held at the Governor Generoso Tourism Complex on Saturday, August 1.

The celebration also featured the State of the Municipality Address of Mayor Juanito Inojales and carried the theme “78 Years of Unity, Progress and Sustainable Growth.”

“Binabati ko ang lahat ng mamamayan ng Governor Generoso sa inyong ika-78 anibersaryo. Patuloy po tayong magtulungan upang mapabuti ang serbisyo at mapaunlad ang bawat barangay,” Go said.

The senator acknowledged Mayor Inojales, Vice Mayor XZ May Inojales, members of the municipal council, barangay captains, local government employees, and community representatives who participated in the anniversary and municipal address.

Go said municipal anniversaries provide communities with an opportunity to review local accomplishments, identify continuing needs, and strengthen coordination among the municipal government, barangays, and residents.

“Mahalaga ang maayos na serbisyo sa bawat barangay. Dapat maramdaman ng mga tao ang tulong sa kalusugan, kabuhayan, edukasyon, at iba pang pangangailangan,” he said.

As part of his legislative agenda for local communities, Go filed Senate Bill No. 178, or the proposed Magna Carta for Barangays Act of 2025. The Senate’s legislative records identify him as the author of the measure.

He also authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 12232, which set the terms of office of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials at four years.

Go co-authored RA 11768, which amended the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act and provided monthly honoraria and other benefits for qualified SK officials.

The senator also filed SBN 412, or the proposed Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers, which seeks to provide qualified BHWs with compensation, benefits, and additional protection.

“Maraming serbisyo ang nagsisimula sa barangay. Kaya mahalagang suportahan natin ang barangay officials, SK officials, at health workers na direktang humaharap sa pangangailangan ng mga tao,” Go said.

He also pointed to continuing efforts to improve access to healthcare in Davao Oriental. A Super Health Center for Governor Generoso was included among the primary healthcare facilities funded for the province in 2025.

Super Health Centers are intended to complement rural health units and hospitals by bringing selected primary care, consultation, diagnostic, and other medical services closer to communities.

Residents requiring hospital-based medical assistance may also seek available support through the Malasakit Center at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City. The facility opened on October 9, 2020, as the country’s 86th Malasakit Center.

Go principally sponsored and authored RA 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the one-stop-shop program for qualified patients seeking medical and financial assistance from concerned agencies.

“Kapag may sakit ang isang miyembro ng pamilya, malaking problema iyon lalo na kung kulang ang pera. Kaya patuloy nating inilalapit ang health facilities at tulong medikal sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.

Go thanked the residents for their support and urged local officials to continue providing responsive and accessible public services.

“Sa pagdiriwang ng inyong anibersaryo, ipagpatuloy po natin ang pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan. Ako naman po ay magseserbisyo sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo,” Go concluded.

B**g Go facilitates medical equipment donations for Davao Oriental hospital and health facilities in Lupon and San Isidro

Senator Christopher “B**g” Go helped facilitate the donation of medical equipment from the Okada Foundation to public health facilities in Davao Oriental after the organization reached out to his office seeking local government units and hospitals that could benefit from additional healthcare resources.

The Okada Foundation coordinated with the Office of Senator B**g Go to identify potential recipients of the donated equipment. Go’s office subsequently connected the foundation with the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center and the local governments of Lupon and San Isidro.

“Malaking tulong po ang mga donasyong medical equipment para sa ating mga ospital at health facilities. Mas marami silang pasyenteng mapagsisilbihan at mas mapapadali ang trabaho ng ating mga health worker,” Go said.

The donation initiative provided the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City with hospital beds, a floor-mounted digital X-ray machine, and other medical equipment intended to strengthen patient diagnosis, treatment, and emergency care. A CCTV system was also turned over to support the hospital’s operations and security.

The provincial hospital serves patients from different municipalities across Davao Oriental and houses the province’s Malasakit Center.

The donation to DOPMC was formally recognized during the hospital’s 55th founding anniversary celebration on July 24, which included the ceremonial turnover and blessing of the new medical equipment.

Go thanked the Okada Foundation for reaching out to his office and offering assistance to healthcare institutions that serve communities outside major urban centers.

“Maraming salamat sa Okada Foundation sa kanilang malasakit at pagtitiwala sa aming tanggapan upang maitugma ang kanilang tulong sa mga lugar na nangangailangan. Mahalaga ang ganitong pagtutulungan ng pribadong sektor, lokal na pamahalaan, at mga pampublikong ospital,” the senator said.

The municipality of Lupon also received a customized mobile clinic, along with additional diagnostic equipment for its local health facilities. The mobile clinic is equipped to support X-ray, blood chemistry, urinalysis, ultrasound, and electrocardiogram services.

The mobile clinic and diagnostic equipment are intended to support the delivery of basic medical and diagnostic services to residents, including those living in communities located far from hospitals and established diagnostic facilities.

Go said mobile health services and additional diagnostic equipment can help local health personnel attend to patients who face transportation, mobility, or financial difficulties when seeking medical attention.

“Sa pamamagitan ng mobile clinic, mailalapit natin ang checkup at diagnostic services sa mga barangay. Hindi na kailangang bumiyahe nang malayo ang ilan nating kababayan para sa mga pangunahing pagsusuri,” he said.

The Super Health Center in San Isidro likewise received a fluorescence immunoassay analyzer, a semi-automatic urine analyzer, and a direct digital radiology system. The equipment will allow local health personnel to perform additional laboratory and radiological examinations within the municipality.

These machines form part of the broader donation package consisting of X-ray and ultrasound machines, electrocardiogram units, ventilators, laboratory analyzers, sterilizers, hospital beds, and other equipment distributed among DOPMC and the Super Health Centers in Lupon and San Isidro.

Go emphasized that donated equipment should be properly maintained and used to strengthen existing services within the recipient communities.

“Ang mahalaga ngayon ay mapangalagaan at magamit nang tama ang mga kagamitan para makinabang ang mas maraming pasyente. Para po ito sa kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan sa Davao Oriental,” he said.

The senator said the initiative reflects the importance of coordinating private donations with the actual needs of public hospitals and local health facilities.

He added that effective coordination allows donors to identify appropriate beneficiaries while helping local governments secure equipment that may otherwise require additional time and public funding to acquire.

The donations complement existing health facilities in Davao Oriental, including the Malasakit Center at DOPMC and the funded Super Health Centers located across the province.

Go authored and principally sponsored Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized Malasakit Centers as one-stop shops that assist indigent and financially incapacitated patients in accessing available medical assistance from concerned government agencies.

He also authored and principally sponsored Republic Act No. 11959, or the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which provides for the establishment of specialty centers in selected Department of Health hospitals in the regions.

Go has likewise supported the establishment of Super Health Centers, which are designed to strengthen primary care, consultation, early disease detection, and selected diagnostic services at the community level.

“Dapat magkakaugnay ang ating mga barangay health station, Super Health Center, provincial hospital, Malasakit Center, at specialty center. Ang layunin ay mas madaling makakuha ng tamang serbisyo ang pasyente saan man siya nakatira,” Go said.

The senator reiterated his appreciation to the Okada Foundation, the recipient local governments, hospital personnel, and other partners who helped coordinate the donations.

“Kapag sama-sama ang pribadong sektor, mga lokal na opisyal, health workers, at mga institusyon, mas marami tayong matutulungan. Patuloy nating ilapit ang serbisyong medikal sa mga Pilipinong nangangailangan,” Go concluded.
