SAN MANUEL, PANGASINAN – Ibinida ng Aoanan Kabagis Irrigators’ Association, Inc. ang kanilang NIA-Assisted Livelihood Project na Quail Egg Production na matatagpuan sa Barangay Cabacaraan, San Manuel, Pangasinan.

Nagpahayag ng pasasalamat si Pangulong Edilberto Somera sa patuloy na tulong at suportang ipinagkakaloob ng NIA Region I sa kanilang samahan upang higit pang mapaunlad ang kanilang produksyon.

Pinangunahan ni Institutional Development Section (IDS) Chief Eddie R. Paringit ang pagbisita, kasama ang iba pang mga empleyado ng NIA Region I at Pangasinan Irrigation Management Office (PIMO).

Patunay ang proyektong ito sa patuloy na pagsisikap ng NIA na mapalawak ang mga oportunidad sa kabuhayan at mapabuti ang kalagayan ng mga miyembro ng mga Irrigators’ Association.

The National Irrigation Administration Ilocos Sur Irrigation Management Office (NIA ISIMO) successfully conducted an Integrated Rice-Duck Farming Technology Training for members of the Irrigators’ Association at the NIA ISIMO Function Hall in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur on May 25–26, 2026. The activity was held under the leadership of Acting Division Manager Engr. Adrian R. Pajulas, highlighting NIA’s commitment to promoting innovative and sustainable agricultural practices that can help improve farm productivity and increase farmers’ income.

Served as the resource speakers are the experts from the Provincial Veterinary Office—Ms. Rosela C. Espiritu, Ms. Ella Marie M. Cardenas, and Mr. Christian Riotita, who shared their expertise on the principles and benefits of integrated rice-duck farming. The participants gained valuable knowledge on proper duck management, the role of ducks in natural pest control, soil fertility improvement, and the integration of livestock with rice production to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly farming system.
During the opening program, Engr. Adrian R. Pajulas delivered an inspiring message to motivate the participants, saying:
"This Integrated Rice-Duck Farming Technology is a game-changer. Tayo po ang mauuna sa Region 1, tayo po ang magiging modelo dito sa Ilocos Sur. Nakalatag parin ang layunin ng NIA na mapataas ang income ng mga farmers at lahat po ng ginagawa ng NIA ay para sa inyo po."

As part of the capacity-building program, participants also underwent a hands-on training on salted egg making, providing them with an additional livelihood opportunity and value-adding skill. The practical activity encouraged farmers to explore income diversification while maximizing the benefits of duck production. The two-day training equipped the Irrigators’ Association with knowledge and skills that can contribute to sustainable agriculture, enhanced food production, and improved economic opportunities for farming communities in Ilocos Sur.

In line with the growing call for sustainable action on sustainability and responsible waste disposal, the NIA La Union Irrigation Management Office (NIA-LUIMO), through its Quality Workplace Team, conducted a Solid Waste Management and Environmental Compliance Seminar on May 28, 2026. The activity aimed to strengthen environmental awareness, promote eco-conscious practices, and reinforce compliance with environmental regulations.

The seminar highlighted Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, emphasizing the importance of proper waste segregation, recycling, and responsible waste disposal in maintaining a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable workplace and community.

Moreover, the activity discussed the office’s compliance with ISO 14001, an international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), which promotes effective environmental management, sustainability, and continual improvement in organizational practices.

As environmental challenges continue to affect communities, NIA-LUIMO remains committed to strengthening environmental awareness, discipline, and collective responsibility among its employees. Through initiatives such as this, the office continues to take meaningful steps toward building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future, proving that even small actions can create lasting impact for generations to come.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) successfully spearheaded the initial water delivery at GACO, Sitio Rebba, Cacadiran, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on May 21, 2026. This milestone operation marks a significant step toward enhancing the region’s agricultural infrastructure and ensuring sustainable water distribution to local farmlands. The breakthrough underscores NIA’s continuing commitment to improving crop production and strengthening food sustainability in the province.

The activity was led by key NIA officials, including Acting Division Manager Engr. Adrian R. Pajulas, Chief of the Operation and Maintenance Section Engr. Rex T. Utrera, and Unit Head of Institutional Development Engr. John Paul Loween S. Tolentino. Joining them were other dedicated NIA personnel and the Federation of Irrigators Association of GACO Inc., represented by its President, Mr. Elpidio Sonido. This collaborative effort highlights the strong partnership between NIA and the farming community.

With the successful delivery of irrigation water, farmers in Sitio Rebba and nearby areas can now look forward to more reliable cropping cycles and improved livelihoods. The strong coordination between NIA and the Irrigators Association will help ensure the efficient and equitable management of the irrigation system.

Farmers, irrigators, and government partners gathered to emphasize how coordinated efforts in water management and farm support programs directly translate to stronger harvests and improved food security across farming communities in Pangasinan.

As Guest of honor, agrarian reform secretary Conrado Estrella III underscored that farmers remain the backbone of the nation’s food supply, while stressing the importance of continued cooperation between government and irrigators’ associations to sustain agricultural gains.

Officials also noted that strong collaboration among irrigators enables better implementation of irrigation and agricultural programs, with NIA-Region 1 regional manager Engr. Geffrey B. Catulin thanking farmers for their active participation in initiatives aimed at improving productivity and water distribution.

The celebration, which featured local farm produce and participation from NIA officials and local leaders, reinforced the message that collective action—rather than isolated efforts—is key to sustaining irrigation systems and ensuring long-term agricultural stability in the region.

Meanwhile, NIA-La Union Irrigation Management Office said it is stepping up preparations for “Wet Season 2026” to ensure stable irrigation services and mitigate the possible effects of El Niño in farming communities.

Officials finalized cropping schedules, water delivery plans, and maintenance projects during a May 21 meeting, emphasizing closer coordination to sustain agricultural productivity.

Masayang ipinagdiwang ng mga Irrigators Association at mga panauhin ang Irrigators Day 2026 na pinangunahan ng Abante Agno-Sinocalan Federated Irrigators Association, Inc. (AASFIA) sa pamumuno ng kanilang pangulo na si G. Jovito Q. Soriano.

Naging panauhing pandangal sa nasabing okasyon si Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III na nagpaabot ng kanyang buong suporta sa sektor ng agrikultura na patuloy na nagsisilbing gulugod sa suplay ng pagkain ng bansa.

Sa mensahe naman ni Engr. Geffrey B. Catulin, kanyang pinasalamatan ang mga magsasaka sa kanilang patuloy na pakikiisa at suporta sa mga programang isinusulong ng ahensiya para sa ikauunlad ng sektor ng irigasyon at agrikultura.

Tampok din sa pagdiriwang ang iba’t ibang produktong ani ng mga magsasaka bilang patunay ng bunga ng maayos at tuloy-tuloy na serbisyong patubig sa mga sakahan. Higit sa lahat, ito ay sumisimbolo sa sipag, dedikasyon, at mahalagang ambag ng mga bagong bayaning magsasaka sa kaunlaran ng bansa.

Upang matugunan ang posibleng banta ng El Niño, patuloy ang paghahanda ng NIA-La Union Irrigation Management Office para sa paparating na Wet Season 2026 sa pamamagitan ng System Management Committee Meeting na isinagawa noong May 21, 2026 sa pangunguna ni Engr. Cynthia G. Paint, Division Manager, kasama ng Federation of Irrigators’ Association of Sto. Tomas, Tubao, Agoo, Aringgay (FIASTAA) Inc. ng Masalip River Irrigation System.
Dumalo rin sa pagpupulong ang mga kinatawan mula sa Local Government Units (LGUs) at iba’t ibang line agencies upang pagtibayin ang koordinasyon at pagpapatupad ng mga hakbang para sa maayos na pamamahala ng irigasyon sa nalalapit na cropping season.

Tinalakay sa pulong ang naging resulta ng Operation and Maintenance Activities noong nakaraang cropping season, kabilang ang kalagayan ng irrigation facilities at mga hamon sa distribusyon ng tubig. Isinapinal din ang Cropping Calendar and Pattern of Planting at Schedule of Water Delivery para sa Wet Season 2026 upang matiyak ang episyenteng paggamit ng tubig para sa mga benepisyaryong magsasaka.

Iprinisenta rin ang mga nakatakdang construction projects at maintenance activities para sa Masalip RIS upang higit na mapabuti ang serbisyo ng irigasyon at mapalakas ang kakayahan ng sistema laban sa epekto ng tagtuyot at iba pang kalamidad.

Binigyang-diin ni Engr. Panit ang kahalagahan ng patuloy na pakikipag-ugnayan ng mga IA sa NIA at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno at LGUs upang agad na matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga magsasaka. Sa pamamagitan ng sama-samang pagkilos, nananatiling nakatuon ang NIA-La Union IMO sa pagbibigay ng maaasahan at napapanatiling serbisyo sa sektor ng agrikultura sa lalawigan.
