"Heat waves are becoming deadlierโ€”staying cool isn't just a comfort, it's survival." ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš‘

Extreme heat is more than just uncomfortableโ€”it can be life-threatening. In 2024, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 77 cases of heat-related illnesses, including six fatalities, as the heat index soared to dangerous levels. When temperatures exceed 42ยฐC, the risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke increases dramatically. Globally, climate change has extended extreme heat periods by an average of six weeks, making heat-related emergencies a growing concern. As temperatures rise, it is crucial to understand the risks associated with heat-related emergencies which can occur when the body becomes overheated

Stay safeโ€”hydrate, limit sun exposure, and check on vulnerable individuals. When the heat rises, so do the risks! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง

When the heat rises, so do the risks. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

The heat index measures how hot it really feels when humidity and temperature combine. Knowing this is crucial, especially in extreme heat, to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The elderly, outdoor workers, and those in poorly ventilated homes are most at risk.

In 2024, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 77 cases of heat-related illnesses as high heat indices affected various areas in the country. Earlier that year, the DOH recorded 34 heat-related illnesses, including six fatalities, underscoring the severe impact of elevated heat index levels.

Let's not allow ourselves to suffer from a staggering height of heat index. As the warmth of the sun grows harsher by the day, best to be prepared to shield yourself from the dangers of a sizzling season.

Stay safeโ€”keep cool, stay hydrated, and listen to your body!โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ
