Philippine Troops Demonstrate Peacekeeping Excellence in "Khaan Quest 2026" in Mongolia

Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Peacekeeping Operations Center (PKOCAFP) and the Philippine Army's Quick Reaction Force Company (QRFC), successfully participated in the Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise “Khaan Quest 2026”, held at the Five Hills Training Area in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from 19 June to 03 July 2026.

Representing the Philippines was a platoon composed of Officers and Enlisted Personnel who trained alongside counterparts from Mongolia, the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other partner nations. Throughout the exercise, participants took part in realistic field training, mission planning, humanitarian response scenarios, and professional military exchanges that strengthened multinational interoperability and reinforced adherence to United Nations standards and international best practices.

In addition to the platoon's participation, PKOCAFP sent Officers and Enlisted Personnel who served as trainers, lane instructors, Command Post Exercise (CPX) planners, and Women, Peace and Security (WPS) participants. Their active involvement highlighted the professionalism, competence, and leadership of Filipino peacekeepers while contributing significantly to the success of one of the world's premier multinational peacekeeping exercises.

The successful participation of the Philippine contingent reaffirms the AFP's unwavering commitment to developing world-class, mission-ready peacekeepers capable of operating in complex multinational environments. Raising the Philippine Flag on the Global Stage: AFP Represents the Nation as Instructor and Participant at DEU UNMOC 2026

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – The Armed Forces of the Philippines, through the Peacekeeping Operations Center, AFP, continues to strengthen its reputation in the international peacekeeping community through its participation in the United Nations Military Observer Course (DEU UNMOC) and the Training of Trainers (TOT) conducted at the German Armed Forces United Nations Training Center (GAFUNTC) in Germany. Demonstrating the country's growing role in United Nations peace operations, the AFP was represented by MAJ MARIA FE C DANAYTAN PA as a course participant and MAJ IRISH L LUCES PN(M) as an International Instructor, an achievement that reflects the global confidence in the competence, professionalism, and instructional excellence of Filipino peacekeepers.

Bringing together 38 participants from 23 nations, the DEU UNMOC is one of the United Nations internationally recognized benchmark courses for preparing future United Nations Military Observers (UNMOs). Through comprehensive classroom instruction, practical field exercises, and the multinational Exercise BLUE FLAG under the Peace Central Europe (4-PCE) framework, participants enhanced their operational readiness while strengthening interoperability with military personnel from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

The participation of MAJ DANAYTAN PA and the appointment of MAJ LUCES PN(M) as an International Instructor underscore the AFP's expanding contribution to global peacekeeping, not only by preparing mission-ready personnel but also by helping shape the next generation of United Nations peacekeepers. Their involvement highlights the high level of expertise and professionalism that Filipino peacekeepers consistently bring to multinational training and peace operations.

PH, Viet Nam Strengthen Peacekeeping Ties Through Landmark Study Visit at PKOCAFP

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – Concluding its six-day study mission in the Philippines, the delegation from the Viet Nam Ministry of National Defence visited the Peacekeeping Operations Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines on 17 July 2026, marking the final official engagement of the mission before returning to Ha Noi, Viet Nam. The visit served as a testament to the deepening strategic partnership between the Philippines and Viet Nam, underscoring the two ASEAN nations' shared vision of promoting international peace and regional stability.

Led by Senior Colonel Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, Deputy Director of the Military Institute of Radiology and Oncology of the Viet Nam People's Army, the delegation – composed of senior military medical officers, WPS practitioners, and representatives from UN Women Philippines – received comprehensive briefings on the AFP's internationally recognized peacekeeping training system. PKOCAFP also showcased its best practices in preparing Filipino peacekeepers for complex UN missions by integrating gender-responsive leadership, civilian protection, disaster response, and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) into its pre-deployment training. The visit also provided a valuable platform for both countries to exchange operational experiences, share innovative approaches, and identify future areas of cooperation in peacekeeping, particularly military medical readiness.

In his closing message, COL WARLITO A LIMET ARM (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of PKOCAFP, underscored that the study visit represented more than a professional exchange; it reflected the enduring friendship, mutual trust, and shared aspirations of the Philippines and Viet Nam. He emphasized that the meaningful engagements throughout the visit laid the groundwork for stronger institutional partnerships, expanded professional exchanges, and more capable and mission-ready peacekeepers equipped to address evolving global security and humanitarian challenges.

Carrying the Philippine Flag with Honor: PKOCAFP Sends Off Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026 Participants

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – The Peacekeeping Operations Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines (PKOCAFP), formally sent off its contingent for Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026 during a ceremony held at the PKOC parade ground on 13 July 2026. The participants will represent the Philippines in the multinational peacekeeping exercise at the Indonesian Peacekeeping Training Centre (PMPP), Sentul, Indonesia.

The exercise will bring together peacekeepers from partner nations to enhance operational interoperability, exchange best practices, and strengthen multinational cooperation in support of international peace and security. Through this engagement, the Philippine contingent will further develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to effectively perform in complex multinational peacekeeping environments.

Serving as the keynote speaker, COL WARLITO A LIMET (ARM) GSC PA, congratulated the participants for having the honor of representing the country in the prestigious exercise. “Your participation reflects the trust and confidence reposed in your professionalism, discipline, and capability to carry the honor of our country beyond our shores,” the Commanding Officer said, as he encouraged the participants to embrace every learning opportunity while sharing the best practices that have earned Filipino peacekeepers the respect of the international peacekeeping community.

PKOCAFP Enhances Global Peacekeeping Readiness Through Participation in the UN Triangular Partnership Programme Stakeholders’ Workshop in Viet Nam

Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – The Peacekeeping Operations Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines (PKOCAFP), reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country's peacekeeping capability through its participation in the United Nations Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) Stakeholders’ Workshop held from 24 to 26 June 2026 at the Novotel Ha Noi Thai Ha Hotel in Viet Nam. Representing the Center was CAPT JAMES S RAMON JR PN (MNSA), Executive Officer, who joined senior military leaders, United Nations representatives, and partner nations in advancing operational readiness, capacity development, and multinational cooperation in support of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.

During the three-day workshop, participants reviewed the achievements of the TPP over the past decade, exchanged best practices, and explored strategic initiatives in engineering, medical support, training, and emerging technologies to address the evolving demands of modern peacekeeping missions. The engagement also highlighted the implementation of the 2025-2029 TPP Comprehensive Partnership Plan of Action, which promotes sustainable, measurable, and demand-driven capability development among troop- and police-contributing countries.

PKOCAFP's participation reinforces the Armed Forces of the Philippines' continuing transformation and capability development initiatives by expanding professional partnerships, strengthening knowledge exchange, and identifying opportunities for future training and technical cooperation with the United Nations and partner nations. PKOCAFP REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY AND PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE DURING SIMULTANEOUS FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

The Peacekeeping Operations Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines (PKOCAFP) joined the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the nationwide Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on 06 July 2026, marking the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling on the West Philippine Sea. The event underscored the AFP's unwavering commitment to defending the country's sovereign rights under international law while strengthening patriotism, professionalism and unity among its personnel.

In the message of the Chief of Staff, AFP, GENERAL ROMEO S. BRAWNER JR. PA, the 2016 Arbitral Ruling was highlighted as a defining milestone that reinforces the Philippines' lawful rights in the West Philippine Sea and affirms the nation's commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes. He emphasized that every soldier, sailor, airman, marine and civilian human resource plays a vital role in protecting the Filipino people, strengthening the country's territorial defense posture and upholding the AFP's enduring commitment to "Our Seas. Our Rights. Our Future." He concluded with a powerful call to duty: "Atin ang West Philippine Sea. Atin ang pananagutang pangalagaan ito. Atin ang tungkuling ipagtanggol ito, nang may dangal, propesyonalismo at pagmamahal sa ating bayan."

He highlighted the Center's growing international engagement through its participation in Khaan Quest 2026 in Mongolia, the United Nations Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course (UNCPOC) in Indonesia, the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting - Plus Experts' Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations (ADMM-Plus EWG ON PKO) in Brunei Darussalam and the Annual Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) Stakeholders Workshop in Vietnam. These engagements continue to enhance the capabilities of Team PKOC while reinforcing the Center's reputation as the AFP's premier peacekeeping training institution and a trusted contributor to regional and global peace and security.

The ceremony also featured the Donning of Beret Ceremony, recognition of outstanding achievements and the celebration of the Center's July birthday celebrators, reflecting PKOCAFP's holistic approach to honoring excellence and service.

PKOCAFP Joins the UN Comprehensive Protection of Civilian Through International Training in Indonesia

Building Peacekeepers. Strengthening Global Security

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to advancing the global Peace and Security Agenda, the Peacekeeping Operations Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines (PKOC, AFP) deployed three personnel to participate in the United Nations Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (UNCPOC) Course conducted from 22 to 26 June 2026 at the PMPP TNI Peacekeeping Mission Center in Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia. The course was organized by the PMPP TNI Peacekeeping Mission Center in collaboration with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), through its Directorate of Military Training and Cooperation (DMTC), bringing together from various Troop-Contributing Countries (TCCs) to enhance operational readiness for United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Selected Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) peacekeepers, joined 36 participants from 12 countries and trained under the guidance of six instructors from DMTC, Canada. The course was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical competencies in Protection of Civilians (POC), Child Protection (CP), Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV), and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA)—critical components of modern United Nations peace operations.

Beyond enhancing technical expertise, the training fostered international cooperation, interoperability, and the exchange of best practices among participating nations. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and scenario-based learning, participants developed a deeper understanding of civilian protection while strengthening professional networks with fellow peacekeepers from around the world.

Representing PKOCAFP were MAJ JUVIEH A ARIOLA (CE) PA, MSg Jerry B Calucag Jr (MI) PA, and SSg Amador T Waña PAF). Throughout the course, the Philippine delegation actively participated in discussions and collaborative learning activities, sharing valuable insights and reinforcing the AFP’s commitment to excellence in peacekeeping operations.

PKOCAFP’s participation in this international training initiative underscores its unwavering commitment to developing mission-ready peacekeepers capable of responding to the complex challenges of contemporary peace operations.
