So I did something a little crazy.

Your sometimes-uncoordinated, sometimes-out-of-beat yoga teacher is now officially a certified barre instructor ๐Ÿฅน

Beyond the physical demands of the practice, it was the mental aspect that really challenged me: creating intelligent sequences, staying on beat, and being several steps ahead so you can seamlessly cue the next movement a few counts before the switch.

But as they say, the only limitations you have are the ones you place on yourself. Good thing Iโ€™m willing to bet on myself every damn time.

Eternally grateful for โ€™s guidance throughout the process and for cheering all of us on from start to finish. Full-circle moment: years ago we were fellow teachers at different neighborhood studios and gyms, and this month I got to be her student ๐Ÿฅน Also so grateful to for hosting such a welcoming space for all of us throughout the training ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Also so grateful for the amazing support and energy from my fellow trainees - our time together was brief, but so fun and memorable ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

And of course, thank you for volunteering as tribute for my practice teaching class ๐Ÿ˜‚

coming soon ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

Thereโ€™s been a lot happening lately - in the world and closer to home - and Iโ€™ve noticed how easily it can build into stress or anxiety.

April being Stress Awareness Month felt like a good reminder to come back to a few simple practices that help me regulate and reset.

These are some of the ones I keep returning to - especially on days when I feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in my head.

Sharing in case you need it too ๐Ÿ’œ

What helps you reset when things feel like too much?

P.S. These are tools that have helped me, but theyโ€™re not a substitute for professional support. If things feel persistent or overwhelming, it might help to speak with a qualified mental health professional.

If youโ€™re in the Philippines, has a validated directory of mental health services and organizations (mentalhealthph.org), and .health has an easy-to-book platform with licensed professionals.

I recently joined Hati Health x Breathing Roomโ€™s EmpowHer Series โ€“ and beyond the workouts, what really stood out were the conversations around womenโ€™s health.

From BMI and strength training, to broader gaps in research and representation, these sessions were both empowering and thought-provoking.

Over the past few years, Iโ€™ve also been intentionally incorporating more strength training into my routine โ€“ especially knowing how important muscle mass is for women as we age. This felt like a timely and meaningful reminder.

I also appreciate what .health is doing โ€“ not just through events like these, but by actively working to bridge gaps in womenโ€™s health and empowering women to take charge of their wellbeing.

Iโ€™m personally looking forward to my upcoming nutritionist consultation through Hati Health, as nutrition is another important piece of the puzzle for me โ€“ especially as I begin navigating perimenopause.

Thanks .health x .ph + partners and for the sessions and giveaways ๐Ÿ’œ

Strong looks different on everyone โ€” so why are we still using BMI as a one-size-fits-all measure of health? ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝโœจ

Joined Hati Health x Breathing Roomโ€™s Hot Girl Strength class (part of their Womenโ€™s Month Mini Wellness Series) earlier this month - and loved how it brought together movement + womenโ€™s health in one session.

A few things that really resonated:
โ€ข BMI was originally developed using Caucasian male data - so it doesnโ€™t fully reflect the diversity of bodies today
โ€ข Health is better assessed through body composition, waist-to-hip ratio, and strength - not just weight and height
โ€ข Building muscle isnโ€™t just about strength - it supports metabolism, bone health, and healthy ageing
โ€ข Strength training becomes even more important as we age, as we naturally lose muscle over time

The workout? Definitely tested me ๐Ÿ˜…
But also reminded me that strength isnโ€™t just physical - itโ€™s choosing to keep going.

Appreciate spaces like Hati Health that are creating more conversations around womenโ€™s health, strength, and long-term wellbeing.

More spaces like this, please ๐Ÿ’œ

Thanks .health, .ph and partners for the session + goodies!

If you tend to think itโ€™s all or nothing โ€” especially when setting New Year resolutions โ€” hereโ€™s your reminder that something is enough.

I used to think habit-building meant going all-in, but honestly, starting small is what actually sticks. Ten minutes of moving is better than none. Adding a bit of greens to each meal is a more sustainable way to eat well than following a highly restrictive diet. Taking a quick pause outside is better than pushing through.

These small habits arenโ€™t flashy or dramatic, but they add up. And theyโ€™re easier to come back to on busy weeks โ€” which is when I need them the most.

One small habit Iโ€™ve added to my mornings is a glass of Birch Tree Adult Boost with breakfast, especially on busy days. Itโ€™s an easy way to support my energy and iron levels, and just one of those simple routines that genuinely makes a difference for me.
