The dialogue, led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with support from the European Union–Philippines Green Economy Partnership and various development partners, will bring together ASEAN stakeholders to advance a more circular, resource-efficient, and inclusive ASEAN economy.

The European Union and Spain have joined the Luzon Economic Corridor partnership, expanding to 13 the international coalition backing infrastructure and investment projects in the island group.

INVITATION TO JOURNALISTS: On Thursday, September 10 at 4:00 p.m. Manila, there will be a virtual press briefing on the outcomes of the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) Investment Forum with Ambassador Heather Variava, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs; Thomas R. Hardy, head of agency of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA); and Dan Petrie, Acting Chief of Staff of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). Co-hosted by the United States, the Philippines, and Japan, the LEC Investment Forum will convene 600 international investors, industry leaders, and senior government officials to accelerate commercial partnerships and mobilize private sector investment across the LEC in the Philippines. The Forum will highlight the coordinated efforts of the United States, the Philippines, Japan, and partner governments to advance high-impact infrastructure projects that strengthen global supply chains, enhance connectivity, and unlock long-term economic growth in the Philippines.

Funded by a P3.67 billion (€60 million) grant from the European Union in the Philippines, the European Union - Philippines Green Economy Partnership is part of the Global Gateway initiative - the European strategy engaging with partners globally and promoting investments around shared priorities such as the transition to a green economy. Led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), this priority programme of the European Union in the Philippines links European and Filipino partners from the private sector and the local government to foster a circular economy while sustaining economic growth that benefits all Filipinos.

The Policy and Alliances component of the programme – co-funded with a €12 million grant from the European Union and a €1million contribution from the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety and implemented by GIZ Philippines and the Pacific Island Countries and EMB Central Office – supports policy development and fosters strong partnerships.
