BASIC X TABLE STORY
Posted • As promised, here's the lowdown on the Chakra Cork Mat from . I'll also frame the review on my experience of having owned and/or used several brands such as: Nike, Jade Yoga, Manduka (Pro, Prolite, X, eKO Superlite), Lululemon and Liforme. This is my first time to use a cork mat.

I did not slip. I actually enjoy the gently uneven, earthy texture of the cork under my fingers, palms and feet. My knees appreciate the cushioning with the 6mm thickness and yet interestingly enough I was still stable when I would do balancing poses or inversions (I know that stability can be an issue with thicker mats). I didn't have an issue with the thickness, considering too that I'm on the heavy side. I also used it on a flat surface and in the garden so you get to see how the mat moves on an uneven surface.

I was able to do a 50-minute Barre class on it, and in the process covered half of the mat with my sweat and shuffled my dumbbells on the mat as I huffed and puffed. I had no issues cleaning it with a few sprays of my Kurin/EO mix. Didn't stink the day after. Surface didn't mold or crumble. I hear that cork is naturally resistant to bacteria? That'd be cool.

Call me practical but I like to use my mat for other activities, and one of the things I'm picky about is the surface I use for my singing bowls. This mat gives just the right amount of padding between the bowls and the floor, yet isn't "sticky" (not sure what the sound healer jargon is for that) when I strike the bowls. I think the color and texture looks great with my bowls too, don't you think?

The design I chose is a big mandala and I use it as a fixed point before I close my eyes during a seated meditation. Yes, I like to meditate on my yoga mat. There are other designs to choose from, even one with hand and feet alignment markers if that's what you need.

So yes, it is possible to zen, flow, flip, jump, and sweat on the Chakra Cork Mat and have fun doing so, because I did! Oh and it is nap-friendly and puppy approved, too!
