Before the first light touched the ground on March 18, 2026, selected NSTP student representatives were already on their way to Malaiba, Natumolan, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. The morning was still and quiet, yet there was a clear sense of purpose among them. This was more than an early call time. It was the beginning of a shared responsibility to prepare for something greater.
As they reached the site, the silence gave way to steady movement. Armed with kawayan sticks, cloth markers, and basic tools, the participants began transforming the open land. Each measurement and each stake placed was done with intention, shaping the area into an organized space ready for the upcoming Tree Planting Activity.
At the center of the effort were the ROTC Advance Cadets, led by Battalion Commander Cdt. Ginell M. Cabunoc, alongside Battalion S1 Cdt. Allyssa Jane Costillas. Together with the Basic and Second Class cadets, they led the digging of holes for the kawayan stakes. With discipline and determination, they carried out the most demanding tasks and ensured that every marker stood firm and aligned. Their coordination and strong sense of duty kept the activity moving efficiently.
Guiding the activity was a team of committed NSTP leaders and faculty. The effort was led by Prof. Joshua Jaranilla, alongside the NSTP Director, Prof. Roqzl Joe M. Cagatin, with the support of NSTP Coordinators Prof. Retchem Gadian and Prof. Krishale Jane Tabor, together with the NSTP part-time faculty. Their leadership ensured that the activity remained organized, safe, and purposeful from start to finish.
As the sun rose, the once empty field stood marked and prepared. Each stake placed became a quiet promise of growth. What began as a calm morning turned into a meaningful display of teamwork, discipline, and commitment. It showed that before anything can grow, the ground must first be prepared with care and purpose.
