First day down, the rest of the summer to go! ☀️💼

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐒) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 has officially kicked off, marking the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey for this year's batch of driven beneficiaries.

Under the theme, "𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝘼 𝙅𝙤𝙗: 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝙎 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨, 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨," the students jumped straight into a comprehensive orientation packed with deep insights. This program is far more than just a temporary summer job; it serves as a professional milestone.

To ensure everyone is fully geared up, legally protected, and mentally prepared for the modern workforce, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) organized an extensive and detailed lineup of speaker sessions showcasing the real-world importance of each topic.

The orientation commenced with a warm welcome and opening remarks from 𝘊𝘎𝘋𝘏-1 𝘗𝘌𝘚𝘖 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗭𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗕. 𝗕𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗷𝗼, who emphasized the value of the rigorous, multi-stage screening process that selected this year's top students.

The event was further elevated by our 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘳, 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼 𝗕. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝘀, who imparted an inspiring message emphasizing the administration’s focus on building local youth opportunities and backing their educational journeys.

Offering a highly relatable perspective, 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕. 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻, 𝘚𝘒 𝘍𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵, shared a powerful message to uplift everyone’s spirits, framing this summer job as a milestone that will shape their future career mindsets.

To guide the students through their responsibilities, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗕. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗼, 𝘚𝘗𝘌𝘚 𝘍𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘋𝘖𝘓𝘌-𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘢𝘺, detailed the foundational purpose and rules of SPES, ensuring the beneficiaries understand how to turn this work immersion into long-term career readiness.

This was complemented by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼 𝗕. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮, 𝘓𝘠𝘋𝘖 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥, who introduced the LYDO Youth Programs to give the SPES beneficiaries access to a broader community and ongoing development opportunities beyond their summer jobs.

The next sessions focused on critical safety, health, and life skills necessary to navigate a modern professional environment safely.

𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘐𝘊-𝘗𝘐𝘖, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗯𝘆 𝗟. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝘀, conducted an essential seminar on the Safe Spaces Act (R.A. 11313), teaching the youth how to recognize, prevent, and report gender-based sexual harassment to ensure a respectful workplace culture.

Prioritizing student well-being, 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁, 𝗥𝗡, delivered an impactful talk on Mental Health and Substance Use Prevention, arming the students with crucial coping mechanisms to handle stress and make responsible life choices.

Healthcare accessibility was addressed by 𝗗𝗿𝗮. 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘇𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀-𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗻, 𝘖𝘐𝘊-𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘳, who walked the students through their health insurance benefits so they stay medically secure throughout their employment.

To prepare the beneficiaries for the real-world responsibilities of earning an income, 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝗔𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗕. 𝗗𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀, launched their financial mindsets with "PESO Power! Smart Money Habits for SPES Youth," emphasizing the lifelong importance of budgeting, saving, and avoiding debt early on.

Finally, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗕. 𝗕𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗷𝗼, 𝗠𝗣𝗔, wrapped up the comprehensive training with practical, lifesaving skills on Disaster Preparedness, ensuring the students can confidently handle emergencies both at their designated offices and at home.
