Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) proudly celebrates a milestone that extends far beyond individual recognition. On 25 July 2026, during the Grand Honors 2026 International Awards Ceremony held at the M World Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, HCCCI President Mrs. Marivet S. Caballero was formally conferred the Most Visionary Iconic Professional of the Year Award 2026 by Star Iconic Media. The prestigious international gathering brought together distinguished award recipients, business leaders, professionals, innovators, and changemakers from various countries in an evening dedicated to recognizing exemplary leadership, fostering international networking, and celebrating excellence across diverse sectors.

Conferred upon individuals whose visionary leadership, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication have created meaningful and lasting contributions to their professions, institutions, and communities, the award serves as a significant affirmation of HCCCI's enduring mission. While the distinction bears the name of the institution's President, its significance belongs to the entire Holy Child family. It reflects the collective dedication of faculty members, administrators, employees, students, alumni, industry partners, local government units, international collaborators, and community stakeholders who continue to embrace a common vision: that education should not simply prepare individuals for careers, but empower them to become compassionate leaders, responsible citizens, and catalysts for positive change.

Under the leadership of Mrs. Caballero, HCCCI has strengthened its identity as an institution where academic excellence is inseparable from compassion, innovation, and service. Guided by the belief that education should create opportunities not only for personal success but also for community transformation, the College has consistently nurtured graduates who are globally competent while remaining deeply rooted in the values of integrity, inclusivity, servant leadership, and social responsibility.

For decades, HCCCI has remained steadfast in providing accessible, values-centered, and transformative education for diverse communities across Southern Mindanao. The institution has championed inclusive learning by expanding educational opportunities for Indigenous Peoples, underserved learners, and marginalized sectors while continuously strengthening scholarships, literacy initiatives, health and wellness programs, livelihood interventions, environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and community extension efforts through its CommuNEKTA Initiatives. These endeavors embody HCCCI's conviction that the true measure of educational excellence is found not only in academic achievement but in lives transformed and communities empowered.

Complementing its strong community foundation is an equally purposeful internationalization agenda. HCCCI has cultivated meaningful partnerships with institutions across the globe through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), international academic collaborations, faculty and student mobility, collaborative research, institutional benchmarking, and active participation in international conferences and professional development programs. These initiatives reflect the institution's philosophy that internationalization is not merely about crossing borders or attaining global recognitionโ€”it is about enriching learning, fostering intercultural understanding, advancing innovation, and ensuring that global opportunities create meaningful benefits for local communities.

This vision has positioned HCCCI within the global higher education landscape through its inclusion in internationally recognized rankings such as the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). More than institutional milestones, these recognitions affirm the College's growing contributions to quality education, innovation, sustainability, and community engagement. They underscore HCCCI's continuing pursuit of excellence while remaining faithful to its responsibility of serving the people and communities at the heart of its mission.

The recognition bestowed upon Mrs. Caballero therefore symbolizes more than visionary leadership. It reflects an institutional culture founded on collaboration, resilience, innovation, and servant leadershipโ€”one where success is measured not by individual accomplishment alone but by the collective impact created through shared purpose. It celebrates an institution whose educators inspire, whose employees serve with dedication, whose students pursue excellence, and whose partners continue to believe in the transformative power of education.

HCCCI's continuing initiatives likewise advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through accessible, inclusive, and globally relevant learning; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing graduates with the competencies, values, and leadership necessary for sustainable development; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by expanding educational opportunities for underserved and marginalized communities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through meaningful collaboration with local, national, and international partners in advancing educational excellence and sustainable development.

As Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. continues to expand its global engagement while deepening its commitment to community development, this recognition serves not merely as a celebration of visionary leadership but as an affirmation of the institution's enduring mission. Every milestone renews HCCCI's commitment to transformative education, meaningful partnerships, innovation, and service, reaffirming that its greatest accomplishments are measured not only by awards received or rankings attained, but by the countless learners whose futures have been transformed, the communities whose lives have been uplifted, and the bridges of collaboration built across cultures and nations.

To our President, Mrs. Marivet S. Caballero, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Your vision continues to inspire the Holy Child community to think beyond boundaries, serve with purpose, and lead with compassion.

This honor belongs to the entire Holy Child familyโ€”a community united by one vision, committed to excellence, and dedicated to transforming lives through education.

An opening program was held at the Tribal Affairs Unit of the Municipality of T'boli, led by the Book Nook Surallah. Vice Mayor of T'boli, South Cotabato, Ronie L. Dela Peรฑa, commenced the event with his message, followed by supporting speeches from NBDB's Mr. Carlo Ebeo, children's book author Dr. Luis "Tito Dok" Gatmaitan, Director Teng Mangansakan, and NBDB Readership Development Division Chief Daniel Mariano.

Children's book illustrator and visual storyteller Elijah Tan then taught the basics of illustration. He highlighted that through art, the students learned to draw themselves, recognize the challenges they face, and confront those challenges with confidence, faith, and their unique gifts. The workshop ended with a gallery walk for both teachers and participants to view the kids' output.

Next, the team went to Lugan Central Elementary School, where Tito Dok held a storytelling session on Sandosenang Sapatos for Grade 3 students, and Director Teng led a workshop teaching students how to write stories reflecting their origins.

More workshops on illustration, storytelling, and writing in South Cotabato are in store. Stay tuned for updates on our social media platforms!

Fresh from its debut in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, where it earned a place in the 1001โ€“1500 band among higher education institutions worldwide, Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) continues to strengthen its commitment to global engagement and sustainable development through its participation in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, held from June 22โ€“25, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia.

HCCCI's inclusion in the THE Impact Rankings reflects the institution's growing contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through quality education, community engagement, internationalization, and institutional partnerships. Building on this milestone, the institution joined global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and higher education institutions at one of the world's premier gatherings dedicated to advancing sustainable development through higher education.

The Philippine delegation was led by CHED Commissioner Dr. Ricmar R. Aquino and Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director of the Commission on Higher Education's International Affairs Service (IAS), reaffirming the country's commitment to internationalization, academic collaboration, and the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their participation highlights CHED's continuing efforts to position Philippine higher education institutions as active contributors to global conversations on sustainability, innovation, inclusive education, and social development.

Representing HCCCI was Ms. Vanessa Marie L. Antiquin, MMEM, Executive Vice President, whose participation reflects the institution's growing presence in the international higher education community. By engaging in global platforms such as the GSDC, HCCCI continues to strengthen international partnerships, exchange best practices, and identify opportunities that support institutional development while creating meaningful benefits for its students, faculty, and the communities it serves.

Convened by Times Higher Education (THE), the Global Sustainable Development Congress is one of the world's leading forums dedicated to accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals through collaboration among universities, governments, industries, international organizations, and civil society. The congress provides a platform for sharing innovative solutions, research, and partnerships that address today's most pressing global challenges.

This year's discussions focus on issues that directly affect communities worldwide, including climate resilience, educational equity, social inclusion, technological innovation, and sustainable economic development. As higher education institutions are increasingly called upon to help address these global challenges, the congress highlights the essential role of universities in driving research, innovation, responsible leadership, and community-centered solutions.

For HCCCI, these conversations closely align with the institution's longstanding commitment to educational excellence, community development, internationalization, and social responsibility. The institution continues to implement programs that expand access to quality education, strengthen workforce development, foster meaningful community engagement, and build strategic local and international partnerships. Its recognition in the THE Impact Rankings affirms these ongoing efforts and reflects the collective work of its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and stakeholders in creating positive and lasting impact.

The congress likewise resonates with HCCCI's Vision of becoming "a leading provider of highly-skilled professionals who are globally competitive" and its Mission of "nurturing and training technologically advanced individuals to improve people's lives in the community and the world." The themes of innovation, sustainability, collaboration, and responsible leadership reinforce the institution's commitment to preparing graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to both local and global development.

HCCCI likewise continues to advance several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through its academic programs, community extension initiatives, research, and international engagements. These include SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). These areas also contributed to the institution's successful participation in the THE Impact Rankings and continue to guide its strategic priorities.

As the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026 concludes, HCCCI brings home valuable insights, strengthened international networks, and new opportunities for collaboration that will further enrich its academic programs, research initiatives, community extension efforts, and internationalization agenda.

More importantly, the Congress reinforces what HCCCI's recent global recognition already affirmsโ€”that meaningful progress begins with sustained action within communities. As the institution continues to grow its global partnerships and expand its impact, HCCCI remains steadfast in advancing quality education, fostering innovation, empowering communities, and contributing to a more sustainable, inclusive, and interconnected world.

It is an academic year measured not only by deadlines, duties, and passing hours, but by the quiet weight carried by those who are often expected to endure without complaint.

Beneath the routines of campus life lies a deeper reality: women continue to bear the labor of expectation, care, silence, excellence, and survival. They are asked to carry institutions, families, classrooms, communities, and histories, often while being told to remain graceful under pressure. Yet within that burden is not weakness. There is movement. There is memory. There is power waiting to be named.

This Academic Year 2025โ€“2026 issue of The PENDULUM, bearing the theme โ€œThe Weight Women Carry, and the Power They Claim,โ€ confronts the visible and invisible labor placed upon women, and the authority they are beginning to reclaim for themselves. The woman at the center of this issue moves forward under a burden made of time, work, judgment, and institutional demand, an image both personal and political. Her frame bends, but it does not break. Against a muted world that watches without helping, she becomes the only figure truly alive.

We, as campus journalists, are not here to soften reality for comfort. We are here to look closely, to question deeply, and to write with the courage that truth demands. Journalism, after all, is not merely the act of reporting what is seen, it is the refusal to ignore what has long been carried in silence.

In the pages of this issue, we ask our readers to confront a necessary question:

What happens when the women who have carried the weight finally decide what power must look like?
