Better Is One Day in the House of the Lord ✨️

Key Verses: Book of Psalms 84:10–12 📖

Verse 10: “Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Verse 11: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” Verse 12: “Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in You.”

The psalmist shows us three powerful reasons why it is better in the house of God.

1. Because God Gave You a Home 🏡
(Verse 10) “Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere…”

• God’s house represents covenant presence, security, belongingness, and comfort.
• Ang bahay ay lugar ng pahinga, intimacy, at transparency.
• Ganoon din sa house of the Lord.
• Physical home — place to rest, intimacy, transparency.
• Same with the house of the Lord.
• Ina-align nito ang values natin.
• Naibabalik tayo sa tamang perspective.
• Naipapaalala kung ano ang tunay na mahalaga.
• Huwag kang pupunta sa church for the sake of going to church.
• Go to church and reach your goal — intimacy with God, to be empowered.
• Rest is not just about sleeping.
• Rest is doing something different from what usually drains you.
• Find rest in God.
• Napakagandang nakikinig ka ng Salita ng Diyos every Sunday.
• Kaya mong lumaban kasi na-empower ka ni God.
• The world will never understand it unless they have experienced it.
• As Charles Spurgeon said, “The soul that has tasted the sweetness of God’s presence…” — iba ang kaligayahang dala ng presensya ng Diyos.
• Treat your church as your home.
• Make God your Home.

2. Because God Gave You Help 🆘️
(Verse 11) “For the Lord God is a sun and shield…”

The Lord is a Sun
• Sun is the source. Kapag madilim ang paligid, Siya ang ating magiging liwanag.
• Minsan papasok ka ng church wala kang direksyon.
• Paglabas mo, may direksyon ka na.
• God is our source.
• Kapag lumapit ka sa source, hindi Siya magsasabing wala na — kasi Siya ang source.
• You can always come to God.

He is our Shield
• Siya ang depensa sa gitna ng laban.
• Kung may laban ka ngayon, He will fight for you.
• Christians are not only worshippers — warriors din.
• Our battle is not against flesh and blood.
• God’s “no” is for your protection.
• “No good thing does He withhold” — ibibigay ni Lord ang kailangan mo at ang mas makabubuti para sa’yo.
• Ang security mo ay wala sa ibang tao. Nasa Lord.
• As Billy Graham said, "The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us.”
• Make God your Help.

3. Because God Gave You Happiness 😃
(Verse 12) “Blessed is the one who trusts in You.”

• Lord of Hosts — Commander of heavenly armies. Sovereign and powerful.
• Ang blessing na ito ay hindi mababaw.
• Deeply satisfied — spiritually nourishing.
• Yung blessing na nararanasan ng taong nagtitiwala sa Panginoon ay very satisfying.
• True blessedness is not about situation or circumstances — it is relational.
• As John Piper said,“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
• Hindi ito saya na nakadepende sa sweldo o sa ganda ng panahon.
• It is something supernatural.
• Tunay na happiness kay Lord talaga matatagpuan.
• Places, people, food — it will all be gone.
• Pero ang joy na galing kay Lord, nananatili.
• Hindi selfish si Lord kapag sinasabi Niyang Siya ang unahin mo.
• Kapag nagulo ang paligid, si Lord kayang ipaglaban ka at samahan ka.
• Trust Him even when you have nothing.
• Trust Him while you are waiting.
• Ang blessed life ay hindi nakatayo sa perfect circumstances, kundi sa perfect confidence we have in the Lord.
• Blessing flows from dependence.
• Sandal ka kay Lord.
• Make God your Happiness.

Conclusion :
Why is it better in the house of God?
Because there you find:
• A Home
• A Help
• A Happiness
Better is one day in His presence than a thousand elsewhere. 🙌
