"To Travel and Be Inspired"

This has been my tag line when I started vlogging, never thought in my entire life that I will reach this far and conquer what every mountaineer's dream. It started out as a weekend climb together with my second family at MPMC. From the start it has been our goal to conquer Mt. Apo, highest mountain in the Philippines. As days turns to years it is getting clear that we need to do this and eventually we finally got the courage to face our reservations and conquer our dream.

As the trail gets longer and tougher it slowly fade every drop of my will and strength. Showing that the mountain doesn't care, and it will never adjust based on your preferences and expectations.

When we reach the boulder face area of Mt. Apo, my backpack gets heavier every step of the way. From then, I began to question myself, what am I doing here? Is this even safe? Is it even worth it? And then it struck me: My Family, who believes in me, who always support me in reaching my aspirations; My MPMC family, who never abandoned me even in the toughest terrain; The mountain view, not all has given the opportunity to see its majestic beauty in personal and I was there.

These keeps me going, keeps pushing me even harder. I can feel numbness throughout my feet, but I didn’t quit. Until I reach the summit, next thing I remember are tears falling down in my eyes. I made it, WE MADE IT!

Thanks to all my fellow climbers who shared their good vibes to lighten up the load. Thank you to the organizers and locals for the amazing experience and delightful meal. Thankful also to my loving family, for the prayers and support. Lastly, thank you Lord for everything that I have.

As Jimmy Buffet says, "Go fast enough to get there, but slow enough to see." It doesn't matter whether you reach the summit first or last, what is important is the memories you created doing it. As I walked every step towards the highest point in Philippines, I always remember my tag line
"I am inspired, and I can do this".

To God be the glory.

After a 2-year break of travelling because of the Pandemic, we will conquer one of the difficult trails in Itogon Benguet. Without further Ado, mga ka Gala here is MOUNT PIGINGAN.

The word Pigingan is a native word which means ‘patagilid’ or side. Standing tall at a height of 1,328 meters above sea level (MASL), clearly it is one of the challenging treks anyone wish to conquer. Our adventure starts by registering and contacting the barangay tourism officer (contact posted below). A 30-minutes 4x4 jeep truck ride is required and will drop you off along the banks of Agno River.

The Hiking Proper
The same starting trail can be use in traversing Mt. Ugo. Ascent to Piginingan starts in an area called junction which also serves as resting zone. There are trail foods, snacks, and drinks available and offered by local, make sure to support them and if you are lucky enough, you will receive a freshly picked local lemon as souvenir. Make sure to rest well and get ready for the steep trail ahead.

Since it is a village path, some part of the trail is paved so motorcycle can easily maneuver the steep road. You will feel a cold breeze of air once you reach to pine forest and occasionally you will encounter herd of cows. There are open trails with no shades of trees to protect you from sunlight so make sure to wear proper trekking gears. There are markings along the way indicating how many kilometers you are to the peak and a kilometer away from it is the camping grounds.

Camping Grounds
Near the peak is the camping area, a 30-minute trek going to the highest point of Pigingan. Local installed fence to protect the campers from cattle flocking in the area. It was a perfect place to spend the night after many hours of walking. During rainy season make sure to bring your reliable and waterproof tent because it if it rains on top, it pours a lot.

The Peak.
1,328 MASL is a rocky peak by which anyone can view its surrounding hills such as Mt. Ugo and Mt, Ulap. The view in Mt. Pigingan may not be as magnificence as Mt. Pulag during Sunrise but the difficulty, experience, and scenery it can offer is Truly a reward for all of us, nature lovers.
