Adamson promotes immersive learning with outdoor field lab

In a Facebook post last January 28, Adamson University introduced AdU EARTH, a research site for real-life environmental studies that encourages ecological responsibility and sustainable development in Real, Quezon.

This project, known as the AdU - Ecological and Anthropological Research in Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitats Field Laboratory (EARTH), encompasses over 100 hectares of terrestrial and aquatic environments, enabling research-driven learning beyond the classroom.

Former University President Fr. Jimmy Belita, C.M. shared that the living laboratory, initially intended for institutional expansion to the east, evolved into an academic hub designed to explore the harmony between humanity and the natural world.

Moreover, College of Science Dean Dr. Eleanor Austria explained that the facility enables experiential learning with living organisms, which aligns with Gen Z’s learning preferences.

Meanwhile, Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, C.M. emphasized the University's responsibility to guide its students toward environmental conservation, encouraging other schools to adopt a similar framework.

"Most of our courses are engineering, which are extractive sciences. The only antidote to extraction is to care for the earth, on how to make our sciences sustainable and caring for the common home," he added.

Through the AdU EARTH initiative, the university aligns its efforts with three specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Quality Education (SDG 4), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15).

Adamson University officially launched AdU EARTH — the Ecological and Anthropological Research in Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitats Field Laboratory — today, January 28, 2026 in Real, Quezon.

Spanning 100 hectares of terrestrial and aquatic environments, this milestone initiative strengthens the University’s commitment to sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and experiential learning. AdU EARTH serves as a living laboratory where students, researchers, and educators immerse in nature-based inquiry — transforming forests, coastlines, and water systems into spaces for discovery, innovation, and real-world solutions.

More than a research facility, AdU EARTH embodies Adamson University’s vision of advancing science, environmental stewardship, and community engagement — empowering learners to become catalysts for ecological responsibility and sustainable development.

From terrestrial landscapes to aquatic ecosystems, AdU EARTH turns nature into a classroom and research into meaningful impact — reflecting Adamson’s pursuit of excellence in quality, research-driven, and future-ready education.
