Runruno National High School (RNHS) learners and employees participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on November 6, 2025, at 9:00 AM, in adherence to the directives of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Department of Education (DepEd). This activity forms part of the national government’s continuing efforts to promote disaster preparedness and resilience in educational institutions.
The drill commenced with the activation of the emergency alarm, signaling all learners, faculty, and staff to perform the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure. Following the simulated earthquake, participants proceeded to designated evacuation areas in accordance with the school’s Emergency and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan. The School DRRM Team supervised the exercise to ensure compliance with safety protocols and to evaluate the effectiveness of the school’s preparedness measures.
Through this initiative, RNHS reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its stakeholders and fostering a culture of readiness in the face of natural hazards. Regular participation in NSED activities strengthens the capacity of the school community to respond effectively during emergencies.

With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our dear Grade 8 learners, Angelyn Jimenia, who left us last Saturday.

Angelyn wasn’t just a student—she was a bright presence in our classrooms, a kind friend to many, and someone who brought joy and warmth wherever she went. She fought bravely for her life, and her strength during those difficult moments was truly inspiring.

Her passing has left a deep emptiness in our school community. We grieve not only the loss of a young life, but also the hopes and dreams she carried with her. As we come together in mourning, we also stand beside her family, offering our prayers, love, and support.

In remembering Angelyn, we invite everyone to reflect on the kindness she showed and the light she shared. Let’s honor her by continuing to care for one another—with compassion, empathy, and love.

May Angelyn rest in peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us.

Runruno National High School Unites for Earthquake Preparedness in Nationwide Drill

Runruno, Quezon – June 19, 2025 The morning of June 19 began like any other day at Runruno National High School - until the clock struck 9:00 AM. At that moment, the entire school community paused and came together for the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a vital exercise aimed at preparing Filipinos for the unexpected.

From the youngest learners to the most seasoned teachers and staff, everyone took part in the drill with focus and determination. Classrooms echoed with the call to “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” as students quickly moved under desks, shielding themselves from imaginary falling debris. Moments later, they calmly evacuated to the school’s designated safe zones, guided by their teachers and emergency marshals.

“It’s more than just a drill - it’s about protecting lives,” said one teacher, who helped lead her class to safety. “We want our students to know what to do, not panic, and feel confident that they can respond if a real earthquake happens.”

The drill was part of a nationwide effort organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Schools, offices, and communities across the Philippines joined in, reinforcing the country’s commitment to disaster resilience.

For many students, it was a learning experience that went beyond textbooks. “I used to think earthquakes were just scary,” said one Grade 9 student. “But now I know what to do - and that makes me feel safer.”

Runruno National High School’s participation in the NSED reflects its dedication to safety, preparedness, and community spirit. As the drill concluded, there was a shared sense of accomplishment - and a quiet confidence that, should the earth ever shake, this school is ready.

It is with heavy hearts but also with gratitude and remembrance for our beloved Hon. Dodoy C. Rafael, whose life was dedicated to serving our community and shaping a brighter future for the youth of Runruno. As we reflect on his life, we honor his unwavering commitment and his instrumental role in the creation of Runruno National High School—a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Hon. Rafael, when he was still the barangay captain, understood the transformative power of education. Recognizing the potential of our youth and the barriers they faced in accessing quality learning, he tirelessly pushed for the establishment of our local high school. His vision was not just about building a school, but about opening doors of opportunity—giving our young people a chance to learn, grow, and aspire beyond boundaries.

Thanks to his dedication, Runruno National High School now stands as a beacon of hope and progress. It has become a place where dreams are nurtured, talents are discovered, and futures are shaped. The impact on our youth has been profound: more students are able to pursue higher education without the burden of long commutes or significant expenses. Our children can now study locally, stay close to their families, and still access quality education that prepares them for the challenges of the world.

This achievement has empowered our young generation, instilling in them confidence and motivation. It has fostered a sense of pride in our community, showing that with unity and perseverance, we can create opportunities and uplift each other.

Let us honor his memory by continuing his advocacy for education and community development. Let us cherish his vision and work together to ensure that the fruits of his labor—our school, our youth's future—continue to flourish.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that his efforts have sown seeds of hope that will grow for many years to come.

District, school heads visit WI learners

The district-in-charge (DIC) of Quezon, including other school heads (SHs), monitored the last batch of Runruno National High School (RNHS) work immersion (WI) learners deployed at the FCF Minerals Corporation, Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, today, May 2, 2024.

Rubilyn C. Gajo, DIC of Quezon district, together with Mickael A. Raymundo, SH of RNHS and two other school heads visited the grade 12 learners taking Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics who were assigned at the different offices or departments of the company specifically at the MEPEO, Safety Department and Clinic.

In the short conversation with the doctor at the clinic of the company, the DIC asked how is the performance of the learners. The doctor gave positive feedbacks and he also made mention that career choices become clearer to the learners because of the WI.

FCF Minerals Corporation has been the lone WI partner of RNHS since the WI was implemented in 2017 and, since 2023, expenses related to the implementation of WI are charged to company's Corporate Social Responsibility.

Work Immersion is a subject of the Senior High School Curriculum, which involves hands-on experience or work simulation in which learners can apply their competencies and acquired knowledge relevant to their track as defined in DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2017.
