Together with People in Need Philippines, Humanity & Inclusion conducted a rapid needs assessment in affected communities in Sarangani Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
Through focus group discussions with displaced families and coordination with local government units, the team identified the following priority needs:
โ Psychosocial support for children and adults
โ Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene essentials
โ Clean water
โ Food assistance
โ Medicines
๐จMore than 400 families remain displaced, facing inadequate shelter, limited access to clean water, and disrupted livelihoods. As aftershocks continue, fear and uncertainty remain part of their daily lives.
The immediate provision of life-sustaining assistance is critical to protecting the health, safety, and dignity of those affected.
โ๐ผHumanity & Inclusion is working alongside partners to deliver timely, inclusive, and life-sustaining assistance, ensuring that older persons, persons with disabilities, children, and other vulnerable groups are not left behind as communities recover from this devastating earthquake.

Displacement, damaged roads and infrastructure, living in makeshift shelters, and navigating the challenges of receiving assistance are among the realities faced by families affected by the earthquake. These challenges are often even greater for older persons and persons with disabilities with physical impairments, whose mobility and ability to access support may be significantly limited.

๐ขWE'RE LOOKING FOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT for the Localization of IASC Guidelines on the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action
The program is implemented by a consortium of four international NGOs and ten local and national organizations operating in BARMM, supported by an expanded workforce of staff, volunteers, and community mobilizers. Despite these efforts, ongoing conflict and repeated displacementโespecially in remote areas with limited government or humanitarian presenceโcontinue to disrupt access to essential services, education, and livelihoods. Vulnerable groups remain disproportionately affected, with women and girls facing heightened risks of gender-based violence, children exposed to exploitation and school dropout, and persons with disabilities and Indigenous Peoples often excluded from services and decision-making processes. Many displaced families also struggle with insecure housing, lack of documentation, and limited access to basic services, while prolonged displacement has increased psychosocial distress and unmet mental health needs. These conditions underscore the urgent need for more integrated, inclusive, and community-based humanitarian responses aligned with global standards.
