TO ALL RESIDENTS OF AGUSAN DEL SUR AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES, RURAL HEALTH UNITS (RHUS) AND DISTRICT HOSPITALS, PROVINCE OF AGUSAN DEL SUR

We wish to inform the public that as of August 1, 2024, D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital has a
total of 265 patients. This includes 67 in the Pediatric Department, 80 in the Medical Department,
72 in the Obstetrics Department, 36 in the Surgical Department, 2 in the ICU, and 8 in Isolation. This
exceeds the hospital’s authorized bed capacity of 100, as stipulated by its License to Operate (LTO)
as a Level II facility issued by the Department of Health (DOH). All available beds and facilities are
currently occupied.

Given this situation, it is advised that residents of Agsurnon and neighboring communities seek
care from their primary care providers for initial assessments and preventative measures,
especially for mild cases that do not require advanced hospital care. Primary care providers can
offer essential guidance and treatment options that may help in managing conditions without the
need for hospital admission.

All Rural Health Units (RHUs) and District Hospitals in the Province of Agusan del Sur are also urged
to enhance their services and ensure strict adherence to the established referral system. These
facilities are critical as initial points of contact for patients, providing essential services and
directing them to appropriate levels of care. By improving coordination and communication, RHUs
and District Hospitals can better manage patient flow, facilitate efficient two-way referrals, help
overcome barriers to accessing necessary health services, and ensure that all patients receive
timely and appropriate care while managing the current capacity constraints at D.O. Plaza
Memorial Hospital.
