A story came to life at the Manila International Book Fair!

Our time at the Manila International Book Fair was full of stories, smiles, conversations, and moments that made the experience meaningful for us.

We were especially happy to celebrate the launch of MassKarra Festival: A Story About Festivals in the Philippines, written by Bela Pauline T. Basco-Inventor and illustrated by Maica Yatco. It was a joy to see this special story take its place among the many books and experiences that make the fair so meaningful.

At Enriched Learning Labs, we believe experiences like these matter. When children get to discover new stories, explore new ideas, and encounter different ways of seeing the world, learning can happen in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

Time spent together can become one of the most meaningful parts of childhood.
Sitting beside your child. Watching them try something new. Answering their questions. Laughing about the simplest things.

These moments may feel small, but for a child, they can mean so much.
They’re learning how to communicate, how to express themselves, how to try again, and how it feels to have someone beside them along the way.

And for parents, they’re little glimpses of who their child is becoming.
We saw so many of these moments unfold; moms and children playing, creating, learning, and simply enjoying being together.

Written by Bela Pauline T. Basco-Inventor and illustrated by Maica Yatco, the book invites children to discover Bacolod’s MassKara Festival—a celebration of creativity, resilience, community, and joy.

At ELLabs, stories are a meaningful part of how we explore the world with children. This one is especially close to our hearts, and we would love to celebrate it with you.

Sometimes, the best thing we can do is just wait a little. 🌱

A child is trying to figure something out. It’s not quite working. There’s a little frustration. Another child is nearby, watching and waiting.

Of course, the instinct is to help.

But sometimes we don’t. We stay close, watch what happens, and give them a little more time.

And then they get it.

That high five afterwards isn’t really about getting it “right.” It’s more of an I saw you. I saw you keep trying. 💙

These are little moments, but we notice them a lot at ELLabs.

Children figuring things out. Trying again. Watching each other. Learning when to wait, when to ask for help, and sometimes realizing… oh, I can actually do this myself.

We’re there when they need us. But we also try not to take over something they’re ready to work through on their own.

Sometimes teaching means stepping in.

Sometimes it means sitting nearby and giving them a little more time. 🌱

So much happens between 2 and 3. 🌱

Suddenly, they want to do things “by myself.” They have more to say, more places to go, more things to try, and very definite ideas about all of it. 😊

And in between all those everyday moments, they’re learning.

When they build, pretend, climb, create, ask questions, make mistakes, and try again, they’re slowly building their independence, communication, coordination, and confidence.

There’s no need to rush it. Children grow at their own pace, and sometimes what they need most is simply the time, space, and encouragement to keep trying.

That’s why we make so much room for play at ELLabs. 💙
