Gov-CDR is one with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in celebrating Womenโs Monthโadvocating for gender equality, diversity, and social inclusion (GEDSI) in climate action, and supporting women leadership in the spirit of the Babaylan.
Under the sub-theme, โLead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!โ, the PCW reaffirms that womenโs leadership is a fundamental part of Filipino identityโjust as in the time of the revered Babaylans, when women held influence and authority equal to men. It highlights the distinctive leadership qualities of Babaylansโwomen leaders in pre-colonial Philippines whose authority was grounded in wisdom, empathy, mediation, and moral guidance rather than force or hierarchy.
