LET’S NOT FORGET THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADITIONAL COMMUNICATION MEDIA (e.g. prints). PURO TAYO FACEBOOK!

I had a quick grocery run. At the counter, I asked the some supermarket staff if they already registered for vaccination. Their responses are,
“Wala pong announcement samin (company) e”
“Libre po ba yun?”
“Ayoko magpavaccine, natatakot ako…baka lagnatin ako”
“Pano magpavaccine, pupunta nalang sa Robinsons (one of the vaccination sites in Antipolo)?”

You know what’s frustrating? It’s the lack of awareness about this very important and one of the biggest programs of the government. We are at the city center. That supermarket is the nearest branch from the city hall but people are not aware. How much worse in farther communities?

When I looked outside, there is not even a single signage about the COVID-19 vaccination drive. How will the community be informed? Do we settle to online platforms alone? How about those who don’t have their own cellphones or mobile data?

If ever people did register, esp those who belong to the A4 category (economic frontliners), will the employers allow them to take a leave off? How about those who are earning daily wage? Those single parents who can’t leave their children alone?

The list goes on.

You can either send copies to your Facebook contacts or print out to give to your neighbors or post (make sure to ask your barangay leaders) around your neighborhood or sa gate nyo so people can read and become aware. If you have community pantries, please also share these information. Ang dami pang kulang ang kaalaman.
