On World Rainforest Day, First Gen Renewables shows up the same way it does every other day.
Forests stretching across our geothermal reservations have been under our protection for decades. Each hectare is a living system that cleans the water, shelters wildlife, and supports communities woven into these landscapes.
Geothermal is good stewardship. See more at energy.com.ph
Every decade has added to what we know about geothermal.
Many in the industry are beginning to realize geothermal's potential to become a defining energy source of the future—yet we have been defining it all along.

Energy is only as strong as its ability to reach the grid at the right time.
First Gen Renewables recently commissioned three new battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Bac-Man, Southern Negros, and Tongonan, adding a combined 40MW/40MWh of capacity to complement generation.
BESS operates like large-scale power banks, storing excess geothermal output when supply is high and releasing it during peak demand or outages.

Connectivity runs on reliable energy.
Globe Telecommunications is powering select facilities in Mindanao and Caloocan City through a supply agreement with First Gen tapping both geothermal and hydropower for continuous operations that modern telecom infrastructure demands.
Backed by the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), the arrangement supports stable energy sourcing, reduces fuel price exposure, and contributes to a growing share of renewables in the national power mix.

2025 was a banner year for the energy below the surface.
Three new geothermal projects reaching commercial operations in a single year is growth in full stride.
Palayan Bayan, Tanawon, and Mahanagdong each represent years of development, technical work, and investment to a cleaner, more stable grid. They add 88.6MW to a portfolio that continues to set the pace for renewable baseload in the Philippines.

From restoring the forest to empowering local communities.
The 3-year partnership among AFoCO, DENR, and First Gen's EDC successfully restored 102 hectares of forest in the Bacon-Manito Geothermal Reservation using more than 20 critical native tree species. As part of the initiative, advanced forestry science and community training were introduced to support the conservation of threatened Philippine tree species and empower local communities to protect their natural heritage.

Some investments power a grid, but ours power entire regions for generations.
First Gen President Francis Giles Puno described geothermal development as patient capital. One that confronts uncertainty at the start in order to secure something lasting at the other end.
We have been making that commitment since before it was celebrated, and geothermal has yet to prove us wrong.

Strengthening learning environments for Cotabato’s young learners.
In line with our commitment to uplifting our host communities, First Gen Renewables recently turned over its initial batch of kindergarten tables and armchairs to the DepEd Schools Division Office of Cotabato.
Hand-in-hand with local provincial leaders and education officials, these brand-new classroom facilities were distributed across our beneficiary elementary schools to help give children a better, more comfortable space to learn and grow.
Beyond providing 24/7 clean, baseload renewable energy, we remain committed to supporting the communities we serve—including the places where learning begins and opportunities take root.
