PLEASE SUPPORT CRISTINA IN HER ROAD TO RECOVERY ๐๐พ
Five days ago, we rescued Cristina from the Lacson Overpass along Espaรฑa Boulevard.
Cristina's treatment is quite costly, but we are committed to giving her the care she needs. At this time, we are only seeking help for one of her prescribed medications: Calici X, which costs P1,990 per bottle.
If you would like to help sponsor this medication, any amount will be greatly appreciated. Every contribution will go directly toward purchasing Cristina's Calici X.
She is estimated to be 6 to 7 years old and has been diagnosed with Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) secondary to Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). She also tested positive for FIV.
FCGS is a severe and painful inflammatory disease that affects a cat's gums and mouth. Cats suffering from FCGS often experience chronic pain, excessive drooling, difficulty eating, weight loss, and discomfort when swallowing.
This explains why Cristina was constantly drooling, licking, and swallowing when we rescued her.
She has been prescribed antibiotics, pain management, and other oral medications to help control her condition and improve her quality of life.
Just five days ago, Cristina was alone, sick and fighting to survive. Today, she is safe, receiving veterinary care, and finally getting the help she desperately needed. ๐พ๐

Does your cat have any unusual habits? We'd love to hear about them in the comments!
Do you have a cat who refuses to drink from a bowl or not even from a pet water fountain?
Meet Luna. ๐ธ
While all the other cats happily drink purified water from their bowls, Luna has a different set of standards.
Her philosophy seems to be:
"I only drink freshly filtered water served directly from the dispenser." ๐ผ
Not from a bowl. Not from a cup. Not even from a pet water fountain.
As quirky as Luna may be, she's actually not alone. Many cats prefer running water because, by instinct, moving water is often perceived as fresher and safer than stagnant water. The movement, sound, and cool temperature can make running water more appealing to some cats.
For some faucet-loving cats, it's not only about the water being in motion. They can become attached to a specific routine, sound, flow, location, or even the experience of drinking straight from the faucet. Once they decide that's the "right" way to drink, convincing them otherwise can be a challenge.
If you have a faucet-drinking cat, here are a few things to keep in mind:
๐ง Make sure your cat always has access to fresh water, even when no one is available to turn on the faucet.
๐ง Monitor how much your cat is drinking. If a cat suddenly becomes much thirstier than usual, it may be worth consulting a veterinarian.
๐ง Watch for signs of dehydration, especially during hot weather.
๐ง Continue offering water in bowls or fountains. Even if your cat ignores them now, preferences can change over time.
Every animal has a unique personality, complete with their own habits, preferences, and little eccentricities. Luna's daily water ritual is just one of the many things that makes her special.

๐พ FIFTY PESOS FRIDAY ๐พ
Fifty Pesos Friday helps provide food for the rescued animals in our care. Everyday our rescued dogs alone consume 2 sacks (40 kg) of dog food.
Reese is just one of the hundreds of rescued dogs at the sanctuary. A victim of a hit-and-run accident that left her permanently disabled. It is likely that she will spend the rest of her life under our care.
The reality of animal rescue is that while some animals find loving homes, others become lifelong residents. No matter how long they stay, we remain committed to providing them with food, shelter, and the care they deserve.
We simply ask for your support in helping us feed Reese and the many other rescued animals who depend on us every day.

As we honor the courage and sacrifice of the Filipinos who fought for our nation's independence and asserted our right to determine our own future, let us remember that freedom is not merely wonโit must also be protected and upheld.
The struggle for freedom did not end with the declaration of independence. It lives on in every effort to build a nation guided by integrity, accountability, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of all.

With the number of earthquakes reported across different parts of the country, now is a good time to make sure our pets are included in our emergency plans.
While we cannot predict when and where the next one will happen, we can take steps now to better protect both people and animals.
๐พ Keep collars, ID tags, and microchip information up to date.
๐พ Keep carriers, leashes, and harnesses readily available for emergency evacuation if your home becomes unsafe.
๐พ Prepare an emergency kit with food, water, medications, and copies of important veterinary records.
๐พ Make sure every member of the household knows what to do and where to go during an emergency.
If an earthquake occurs, remember:
โฌ๏ธ DROP to your hands and knees.
๐ก๏ธ COVER your head and neck and take shelter under a sturdy table or desk if available.
โ HOLD ON until the shaking stops.
If your pet is already with you and can be safely handled, keep them close and take cover together. However, frightened animals may panic, struggle, scratch, or bite even when they would not normally do so. Do not risk injury to yourself or your pet by chasing or forcibly restraining a panicked animal during the shaking.
If your pet slips away or refuses to be handled, focus on protecting yourself first. Many animals will instinctively seek their own place of safety. As soon as the shaking stops, check on your pets immediately and secure them, as frightened animals may hide, escape through damaged gates or doors, or become disoriented.
Many pet owners and animal caretakers have reported unusual animal behavior before earthquakes. While there is currently no conclusive scientific evidence that animals can reliably predict earthquakes, there is no harm in paying attention if your pets or livestock suddenly become unusually restless, agitated, or fearful for no apparent reason. However, preparedness should never depend on animal behavior alone.
And let's not forget the animals who have no homes to shelter in. Community dogs and cats are especially vulnerable during disasters. After the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside, take a moment to check on the strays in your neighborhood. A little kindness can go a long way for animals who have nowhere else to turn.
We can't predict earthquakes, but we can be prepared.
Today, I responded to a call to rescue a cat reportedly staying on the Lacson Overpass along Espaรฑa Boulevard, but when I arrived, the cat was nowhere to be found.
This is one of the difficulties of animal rescue. Animals are not stationaryโthey move, hide, and often leave the area where they were first spotted. A location that is accurate at the time of reporting may no longer be accurate hours later when rescuers arrive.
While crossing the overpass, however, I noticed another cat.
Although she wasn't the cat I was looking for, it was clear that she needed help too, so I decided to take her.
Based on her appearance and behavior, she appears to be an elderly cat. She is thin, dehydrated, and seems to be suffering from a dental issue, as she has been drooling and constantly licking and swallowing.
She will be seen by our veterinarian tomorrow for a proper examination. We will share an update once we know more about her condition.
As for the cat I was searching for, we sincerely hope that he or she is safe and that another rescuer or concerned citizen was able to help.
For now, Kitty is safe and cared for. โค๏ธ๐พ
