Vision screening is an important part of early childhood health care because good vision is essential for a child's learning, development, and overall well-being. Preschool children may not recognize or report vision problems, making early screening crucial for identifying conditions that could affect their academic performance, social interactions, and daily activities.

Early detection of vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, amblyopia (lazy eye), and strabismus (crossed eyes) allows for timely intervention and treatment. Addressing these issues during the preschool years can help prevent long-term visual impairment and support optimal learning and development.

As part of promoting eye health among young learners, Dr. Fretzelle P. Balane-Morano conducted a vision screening activity at Salvacion Elementary School. The screening aimed to identify children who may require further eye examination and to raise awareness among parents, teachers, and the community about the importance of regular eye checkups. Such initiatives contribute to ensuring that children have the visual skills necessary for success in school and in life.

Through regular vision screening programs, schools and health professionals can work together to promote early detection, timely treatment, and better educational outcomes for all children.
