No running, no jumpingβjust players using letters, plotting their next move.
The scrabble competition, one of the intellectual events of the sportsfest 2026, gathered students at the computer lab on February 10, where players competed by forming high-scoring words, testing not only their vocabulary but also their strategy and focus.
As the game started, the room was filled with silence, only the sound of keyboards clicking can be heard along with their eyes that shouts determination as they carefully study the words, weighing every move before playing a word that could change the score in an instant.
During the semi finals, one of the intense matches came during a close matchup between Team Kyomo Honotori and Primora Sentinels. As they tried to find words that would determine their chance of advancing to the final round, the scoreboard showed a nail-biting result. Kyomo's representative, Desabille, scored 112 points and Nava from Primora's edged ahead with 113 points. The one point difference kept the room on edge, proving that every letter and every word could change their score in an instant.
At the end, Edrich from Shadow Caster dominated the tile field with the score of 183 points. Nava from Primora Sentinels got 2nd Place and Ibas from Blazing Luminara got 3rd Place
In the girlsβ division, Mara Cruz from Sidlahara claimed 1st place after showcasing exceptional strategic gameplay. Samarielly Lopez secured 2nd place, while Kristen Antonio earned 3rd place, both representing Primora Sentinels.
With every tile laid down on the screen, the competition reminded everyone that sportsfest is not just about the test of whoβs the fastest, but also a test of intelligence and focus.
After all, in this game, the sharpest weapon isnβt speed but a well played word.
