Marking a year of accomplishments and achievements, the bell ringing is not just a simple ceremony, but also a testament to the year-long efforts of each and every BSBA-FM student.

Today, April 28, 2026, BSBA-FM students had the chance to walk through a typical day of a wealth trainer during the webinar “A Day in the Life of a Wealth Trainer at COL Financial,” via Google Meet. Initiated by the Junior Financial Executives - CSPC Chapter, Level I to Level III BSBA-FM students were given the chance to learn more about the invited guest speaker, Mr. Raphael Antonio D. Bustamante, a wealth trainer at COL Financial Inc., the Philippines’ leading online stockbroker.

Mr. Bustamante actively shared his personal experiences and insights of what life is like as an advocate of financial literacy. From his starting point to where he is now, he encouraged the students to take the first step and continuously seize opportunities despite uncertainties.

More than just a learning session, the event allowed students to fuel their curiosity by asking several questions, all of which were confidently answered by the speaker, making the event more engaging and inspiring.

As students pursue their paths in the finance industry, events like this serve as a reminder that learning from experienced individuals is a privilege. Opportunities like these should be maximized, gaining even the smallest insights and putting them into action wholeheartedly. After all, everyone starts somewhere, and the most important thing is to begin.

𝗕𝗦𝗕𝗔-𝗙𝗠 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱

As the 24th Association of Bicol Business Students (ABBS) Regional Congress held at Catanduanes State University, Virac, Catanduanes came to a close, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management (BSBA-FM) students, officers, and core faculty members once again proved that they can drive the charts to their advantage. With grit and determination, the institution secured the Overall Champion title, following its last championship win in 2023.

Behind this achievement are the BSBA-FM faculty coaches who served as mentors and guiding forces for the delegates. Among them are Christine Margoux Sirios, Quiz Bee Faculty Coach; Emjay Cervas, Business Essay Proposal Making and Commercial Making Faculty Coach; and Roque Cruz II, BSBA-FM Program Chair, Product Poster Making, Photography, Commercial Making, and Sales Pitch Faculty Coach. Leading the entire delegation was the CTHBM Dean, Dr. Maria Joy Iglesia, whose leadership steered the team toward a strong and unified performance.

Working alongside them are the ABBS officers from the BSBA-FM program, who ensured the smooth coordination and preparation of the delegates. Headed by President Ivan Lester Catimbang, along with Secretary Juris Shane Pili, Treasurer Paloma Mae Agapito, Assistant Treasurer Keshia Praise Sadang, and Business Manager Rosemarie Benegas, the group’s collective efforts helped bring the delegation’s vision to life.

The delegates, in turn, delivered commendable performances across various events, proving that the stars did not just align in their favor, but rather, it was their collective effort, discipline, and teamwork that made these achievements possible. From academic competitions to sports and skill-related events, each participant carried the institution’s banner with pride.

‎In a recent Initial Public Opinion (IPO) survey conducted by TheANALYST, 65 of 262 BSBA-FM students from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges shared what they had to sacrifice as they deal with financial pressure. Their responses indicate how individuals adjust their priorities and make difficult choices when faced with limited financial resources.

‎63.5% 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀

‎The majority of respondents chose to give up personal wants such as leisure activities, shopping, or hobbies. This shows that non-essential expenses are often the first to be reduced during financial strain, as individuals prioritize necessities and long-term needs over immediate satisfaction. Sacrificing personal wants also helps focus limited income on essential needs, reduce financial stress, and avoid debt, making it a practical step toward maintaining financial stability.

‎17.6% 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

‎Some respondents shared that they had to let go of certain opportunities, such as events, experiences, or personal development activities. This reflects how financial pressure can limit not only spending but also growth and participation in meaningful experiences. According to the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report, financial barriers are among the major factors that restrict individuals, particularly learners, limiting their access to educational and enrichment opportunities.

‎16.2% 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

‎A portion of respondents indicated that they compromise comfort and convenience, such as choosing cheaper alternatives or adjusting their daily routines. This shows how financial pressure leads individuals to prioritize essential needs over comfort and lifestyle preferences. This is supported by the World Bank, which explains that financial hardship forces individuals and households to reduce non-essential consumption and adjust their daily living conditions in order to meet basic needs.

‎The least number of respondents associated financial pressure with sacrificing peace of mind, highlighting its emotional and mental impact. According to the World Health Organization, financial stress is a significant social determinant of mental health and can contribute to anxiety, emotional strain, and reduced psychological well-being.

‎These findings show that people primarily give up personal wants and adjust their lifestyles to cope with financial challenges. It reflects a strong sense of prioritization and resilience, as individuals focus on what truly matters during difficult times. However, the presence of emotional strain also raises an important question: how can individuals maintain both financial stability and well-being in the face of ongoing financial pressure?

Supporting this, economic theory also explains that increasing the money supply without matching economic output will push prices upward over time.

This shows that managing the money supply is important to maintain price stability and protect the value of money.

Securing the next spot was Camarines Norte State College, which earned the title of Overall First Runner-Up. Meanwhile, Naga College Foundation claimed the Overall Second Runner-Up title, further highlighting the exceptional talent and competitive spirit of the region’s academic institutions.

Driven by passion and skills honed through rigorous training, CSPC delegates stood out and excelled in every competition, bagging numerous awards in every competition.
