URS Food Testing Laboratory

The URS FARSL warmly welcomes the Department of Trade and Industry Rizal team for a strategic plan visit focused on strengthening water and food analysis initiatives. The visit was led by Ms. Sharon Dioco, together with Mr. Paulo Garrovillas and Ms. Noralyn Halimao.

The discussion highlighted collaboration, quality standards, and future plans which aims to streamline the testing service to the community to ensure safe and reliable laboratory service for our stakeholders.

The URS in partnership with DOST-ITDI, DOST Rizal and Tanay LGU installed the Upgraded Emergency Water Disinfection System (UPEDS) at Sitio Nayon, Sta. Ines, Tanay, Rizal last June 5, 2024. The URS personnel were in charge of the assembly of the UPEDS and the URS FARSL collected and tested the potability of water samples prior and after the installation of the UPEDS. The project aims to provide safe drinking water to the community.

Prof. Eugene Tia, Head of Food Analytical and Research Services Laboratory (FARSL), invented the “Process of Producing Mosquito Attractant with Plant Extract and the Product Thereof” and was granted the Letters Patent Invention by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) – Bureau of Patents for July 14, 2023 until October 12, 2040.
