| iWrite, together with 17 delegates from the BA Communication and Media Studies (CMS) program of the University of the Philippines Visayas, joined WordCamp Philippines 2026 last August 28-29 at the Iloilo Convention Center.

WordCamp Philippines is a conference focused on and hosted by WordPress, a website software that aims to connect communities across the globe through code.

Bringing together 451 attendees from 15 countries, the event went beyond WordPress and website development. Through 16 inspiring speakers, participants explored topics such as human intelligence in the age of AI, remote work, search engine optimization (SEO), and avoiding burnout.

As journalism has penetrated the digital space, the event shared a fresh perspective on its complex nature—highlighting that, much like artificial intelligence, it is built on data, systems, and predictions.

As iWrite continues to write the right, we will inevitably compete for the netizens’ attention against other creators, businesses, and even fake news.

By understanding the evolving digital world and learning how to standout in a saturated media landscape, we take one step closer in ensuring our stories are not just heard, but remembered.

Note: Facebook automatically labeled the post as “AI content”. No AI content was used in the post.

𝙄𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.

This National Heroes Day, we remember the heroes who shaped our history—from José Rizal, Andrés Bonifacio, and the many Filipinos who dared to challenge colonial rule, to the countless unnamed individuals whose courage helped build the nation we know today.

But heroism does not belong only to the pages of history.

Today, heroes continue to walk among us: workers who fight for fair wages and humane working conditions, farmers and laborers who defend their livelihood, journalists who continue to speak truth to power, activists who stand against oppression, and ordinary Filipinos who refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice.

From the struggles of the past to the corruption and inequality that persist today, the fight for freedom, dignity, and genuine democracy remains unfinished. The names and faces of those who fought before us may have changed, but the call for justice remains.

To be a hero is not always to make history through grand acts. Sometimes, it is choosing to speak when silence is easier. To organize when standing alone feels safer. To defend another person's rights even when doing so comes at a cost. To continue believing that this country can be better—and to do something to make it so.

Today, we honor not only those who gave their lives for the nation, but also those who continue to give their time, labor, courage, and voices for the Filipino people.

May we remember that the freedoms we have today were fought for—and that the freedoms still denied to many must also be fought for.

The struggle continues. So does the courage to fight.

Happy National Heroes Day. 🇵🇭

𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗗, 𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗗, 𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗢𝗠!

As we celebrate the National Press Freedom Day we are reminded by one the beliefs from the journalist’s creed. Our belief that “any suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible.”

The Philippines as of today remains as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists and media professionals. Today, we are reminded by the sacrifices made by the people who stood by their values and profession for the welfare and rights of the Filipino citizens, for accurate and complete information.

We as people, should stand beside the press, not just to create a safer environment for them, but for a country that respects its people through giving them the actual freedom to write and report without the threat to their lives.

iWrite remains an advocate for truth and for the welfare of the people. Together, let us stand with the press for a more transparent and accountable country, free from censorship and threats. A nation that is for the people, a nation that supports and amplifies the voice of the people.
