IBP La Union Joins Nationwide Synchronized Tree Planting, Plants 300 Agoho Seedlings in Agoo Protected Landscape
Agoo, La Union; June 14, 2026 โ The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) La Union Chapter joined IBP Chapters across the country in the Synchronized Nationwide Tree Planting Activity, reinforcing its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development through collective action.
Conducted in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Office No. 1 and the La Union Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), the activity was held at the Agoo-Damortis Protected Landscape and Seascape (ADPLS) in Sta. Rita Central, Agoo, La Union, beginning at 7:00 a.m.
The event brought together lawyer-members of IBP La Union, their families and friends, students from the DMMMSU-MLUC College of Law, and personnel from DENR Regional Office No. 1 and La Union PENRO in a shared effort to promote environmental stewardship and climate resilience.
A total of 300 agoho seedlings were planted within the protected landscape, contributing to the rehabilitation and preservation of the areaโs coastal ecosystem. Known for their resilience and ability to prevent soil erosion, agoho trees play a vital role in protecting shorelines and enhancing biodiversity.
The activity reflects the shared commitment of the legal profession, government agencies, educational institutions, and the community to safeguarding the environment for future generations. By participating in this nationwide initiative, IBP La Union once again demonstrated that the pursuit of justice extends beyond the courtroom and includes the responsibility to protect and preserve the countryโs natural resources.
IBP La Union extends its sincere appreciation to DENR Regional Office No. 1, La Union PENRO, the DMMMSU-MLUC College of Law, and all volunteers whose participation made the activity a meaningful and successful undertaking. Together, they planted not only 300 trees but also the seeds of environmental responsibility, collaboration, and hope for a greener future.

It is with profound sadness that the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) La Union Chapter joins the legal community in mourning the passing of Atty. Eric Stephen T. Alcantara, who passed away on June 10, 2026.
Atty. Alcantara was a member of the Chapter whose life and practice reflected dedication to the legal profession and service to others. He will be remembered by his colleagues and friends for his kindness, humility, and warm presence, leaving behind memories that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The IBP La Union Chapter extends its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones, and friends during this time of grief. We stand with them in prayer and solidarity as they honor his life and cherish his memory.
The wake is being held at Chapel E, Second Floor, Joces Building, City of San Fernando, La Union. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 18, 2026, at 8:00 A.M. at St. William the Hermit Cathedral Parish, followed by the interment at Holy Gardens, La Union Memorial Park, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Philippine National Arbor Day reminds us of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. Integrated Bar of the Philippines โ La Union Chapter Joins Launch of the San Fernando City La Union Justice Zone
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines โ La Union Chapter proudly participated in the official launch of the San Fernando City La Union Justice Zone, a significant milestone in strengthening coordination and collaboration among justice sector institutions in the City of San Fernando, La Union.
The launching ceremony gathered representatives from various pillars of the justice system, including members of the judiciary, prosecution service, law enforcement agencies, local government officials, and partner stakeholders, all united in the shared objective of promoting a more efficient, accessible, and responsive justice system for the people of La Union.
Representing the legal profession, the IBP La Union Chapter expressed its full support for the Justice Zone initiative, recognizing its vital role in enhancing case management, improving inter-agency cooperation, and ensuring the speedy and fair administration of justice.
The Justice Zone program serves as a platform for justice sector agencies to identify systemic challenges, develop coordinated solutions, and implement reforms that will ultimately benefit litigants and the public. Through this initiative, institutions are empowered to work together in fostering accountability, transparency, and greater public trust in the justice system.

IBP La Union Participates in the Grand Ease of Doing Business Fair 2026 at SM City La Union
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) La Union Chapter proudly participated in the Grand Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Fair 2026 held at SM City La Union on May 17, 2026, in support of the governmentโs continuing efforts to bring public services closer to the people.
The event gathered various government agencies, local government units, and partner institutions in a one-stop-shop service fair aimed at promoting accessible, efficient, and people-centered public service. Participating agencies and organizations included the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig Fund, Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Civil Service Commission (CSC), the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry โ La Union, among others.
As part of its commitment to public service and access to justice, IBP La Union deployed volunteer lawyers who rendered free legal consultation services to qualified beneficiaries during the event. The Chapterโs participation highlighted the legal professionโs vital role in empowering communities through legal education, guidance, and assistance.
Members of the public were given the opportunity to seek legal advice on various concerns, including civil matters, family concerns, documentation, labor-related issues, and other legal inquiries. Through this initiative, IBP La Union reaffirmed its continuing advocacy of making legal assistance more accessible, particularly to individuals who may have limited means to obtain legal services.
The EODB Fair likewise served as an avenue for collaboration among government agencies, private institutions, and professional organizations in promoting transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery for the benefit of the public.

IBP La Union Joins Grand EODB Fair 2026 as Proud Partner
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) โ La Union Chapter is set to participate as a proud partner agency in the Grand Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Fair 2026 to be held on May 17, 2026 at SM San Fernando, La Union.
Organized in line with the observance of Ease of Doing Business Month, the event will gather various government agencies, private sector partners, and stakeholders to bring public services closer to the people and promote efficient, accessible, and citizen-centered governance.
Participating agencies include the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and other partner institutions.

IBP La Union Joins MOA Signing for Project SIKAP-LINAK
On May 4, 2026, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) La Union Chapter, represented by Chapter President Atty. Myra-Diwata A. Rivera-Caroy and Director Atty. Nancy Lopez Bilaoen, participated in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for Project SIKAP-LINAK held at Robinsons Place La Union.
The activity gathered various government agencies and partner institutions in a unified effort to strengthen community-based programs and inter-agency collaboration for the welfare of fisherfolks and coastal communities. Among the participating agencies and organizations were the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police Maritime Group (PNP-MG), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), IBP La Union Chapter, Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), Technical Rehabilitation Center (TRC), and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
The MOA signing formed part of the opening activities for the 2026 Month of the Ocean and Fisherfolk Month. The event highlighted the importance of collective action among public institutions, civic organizations, and stakeholders in promoting sustainable community development, legal empowerment, and support services for fisherfolk and coastal communities.
Through its participation, IBP La Union reaffirmed its commitment to public service and meaningful partnerships anchored on its continuing mission of fostering a โCommunity with a Purpose.โ The Chapter likewise emphasized the role of the legal profession not only in the administration of justice, but also in advancing accessible programs and responsive initiatives that directly benefit marginalized sectors.
The presence of IBP La Union in the ceremonial signing underscored the organizationโs continuing support for multi-sectoral partnerships aimed at strengthening public awareness, legal assistance, and community engagement throughout the province.

IBP La Union Provides Legal Assistance at San Fernando City Job Fair
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) La Union Chapter participated in the San Fernando City Job Fair on May 1, 2026, at Robinsons Place La Union, in line with its theme, โCommunity with a Purpose.โ
IBP La Union volunteer lawyers provided free legal consultation to first-time jobseekers and other applicants. They addressed concerns on employment contracts, workersโ rights, pre-employment requirements, and labor standards.
The activity supplemented the job fair by giving applicants access to legal guidance as they sought employment. It also helped participants better understand their rights and obligations in the workplace.
Through its participation, the IBP La Union Chapter continued its efforts to make legal services accessible to the public. The activity reflects its commitment to service beyond the practice of law.
