MATI PROTECTED LANDSCAPE- General Management Plan (GMP) Write-shop and Consultative Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting.

On August 16-17, 2018 , A two day write-shop on the formulation of the General Management Plan of the Mati Protected Landscape was conducted at Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) Conference room 2. The write-shop was facilitated by Dr. Roy Ponce with collaborative participation of the CENRO PA staffs, PENRO personnel and Mr. Marc Kenneth Albite of Provincial Planning Development Office.

On the second day afternoon, August 17, 2018. A consultative Technical Working Group Meeting was initiated by the Deputy PASu office together with Dr. Ponce of DOrSU. The activity was participated by the P.Os of Mati PL, representatives from Mati Water District, IPMR, City Agriculture Office, PPDO, BLGU of Brgy Central, Konsumo Mati and personnel from PENRO-Davao Oriental.

CENR Officer/concurrent Deputy PASu-MPL Zaldy L. Lumaan explained that the GMP contains all the plans and programs intended for the protected landscape for the year 2019-2024.

Prior to the consultation, the Deputy PASu Office had conducted preliminary activities and the DOrSU as well had already conducted research studies which relevantly integrated to the formulation of the plan.

Dr. Ponce emphazised their unrelenting assistance on the undertaking of the Deputy PASu Office towards reaching a common goal. He encouraged the key stakeholders to open up their insights and ideas to enhance the working draft of the GMP that will serve as a tool for the effective management of the Mati Protected Landscape.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)- Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Mati personnel conducted CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS FOR STAKEHOLDERS OF MATI PROTECTED LANDSCAPE on June 26-28, 2018 at Brgy Central, Sainz and Culian which covers within the jurisdiction of the protected area.

The activity was mainly to capacitate and/or raise further awareness to selective communities/members of people's organization on the importance of our ecosystem as well as the different environmental laws to protect our environment.

CENRO Mati personnel together with the representatives from PENRO-Davao Oriental and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) discussed the importance of watershed areas in the Philippines and Biodiversity, Presidential Proclamation 912, Salient Features of RA 7586-NIPAS Act of 1992, Ecological Solid Waste Management (RA 9003), PD 705, Executive Order 23, Chainsaw Act (RA 9175) and Wildlife Act (RA 9147).
