โWork is a participation in Godโs creation.โ โ Saint Joseph
On May 1, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Joseph under the title โWorker,โ emphasizing the dignity of human labor and the sanctity of daily responsibilities. A humble carpenter of Nazareth, St. Joseph faithfully provided for the Holy Family with quiet strength, perseverance, and deep trust in Godโs plan. Though he spoke no recorded words in Scripture, his actions reveal a life of obedience, integrity, and love. Instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1955, this feast reminds us that all honest work, when offered to God, becomes a means of grace and a path to holiness.

"Receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."
John 13:16-20
Whether in leadership, family, or community, we rarely stand alone. When we respect a teacher, we respect the institution of education; when we welcome a stranger, we welcome the humanity that connects us all.

"I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.โ
John 12:44-50
It reminds us that while darkness may feel like a permanent shroud, it is ultimately the absence of light. By seeking out and believing in a higher source of truth be it spiritual, ethical, or communal, we find the strength to step out of the shadows and see the world, and ourselves, as we truly are.

"If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered them, "I told you and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify to me.โ
John 10:22-30
Who we are is not defined by the titles we claim, but by the impact of our presence. If we want to know the truth about a person or ourselves, we shouldn't just listen to the telling. We should look at the doing. The most honest version of the truth is rarely spoken; it is performed.

"I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.โ
John 10:11-18
It reminds us that we are never alone. We have a Leader who knows us by name, loves us exactly as we are, and has already proven His love by giving everything for us. We can rest easy knowing we are in good hands.

Feast of Saint Mark, evangelist

"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Mark 16:15-20
Risk lies in what we fail to do: fail to trust, fail to commit, and fail to step through the open door. It posits that life is moving toward a destination, and refusing to choose a path is, in itself, a choice with profound implications.

"Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life,"
John 6:52-59
In a world where everything feels temporary where our bodies eventually tire, our circumstances shift, and the things we rely on can disappear this is a promise of consistency. It tells us that there is a source of nourishment that doesnโt run out. Itโs a reminder that even when life feels heavy or the world seems to be changing too fast, you have access to a strength and a life force that simply cannot be extinguished.

"For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day."
John 6:35-40
God isn't looking for a reason to keep you out; Heโs actively making a way to bring you in. Itโs an assurance that you are seen, you are wanted, and you are safe.

โWhoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.โ
John 6:30-35
When we stop trying to fill a spiritual void with material things, we become like a well that is constantly replenished from within. Peace is found not in the absence of desire, but in the presence of something so substantial that desire no longer dictates our happiness.
