Masbateรฑos spotted a waterspout or "๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ-๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ" near the coastal area of Masbate City, which was visible from the Masbate National Comprehensive High School (MNCHS) campus on Thursday, July 16. The rotating column of air and mist was visible for several minutes as it formed over the water before dissipating near the shoreline.

Witnesses observed the waterspout carrying small pieces of floating plastic within its rotating vortex.

A waterspout is a rotating column of air that forms over a body of water, often beneath developing cumulus or thunderstorm clouds. While waterspouts can appear intimidating, many remain relatively weak and dissipate without causing significant damage. However, residents are still advised to exercise caution and monitor official weather advisories whenever severe weather conditions are present. The sighting occurred as a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (Habagat) continued to bring rains and thunderstorms across parts of the Bicol Region, including Masbate.

Masbate National Comprehensive High School (MNCHS) conducted a General Parentsโ€™ Assembly for Senior High School (SHS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) led by Marife A. Caรฑares, Principal IV, on July 11 at the schoolโ€™s Covered Quadrangle.

This initiative shed light on DepEd's three-term school calendar, revised guidelines for classroom assessments, grading system, academic excellence, teachersโ€™ mobility scheme, Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program, and prevention of school violence and bullying.

Caรฑares also discussed the offenses and penalties under DeEd order no. 006, s. 2026, as well as the offenses and the corresponding disciplinary actions applicable for students and school personnel.

In response to the said DepEd order, the school implemented a strict gate schedule, wearing of Identification Card (ID) and bag inspection.

Caรฑares emphasized that the school is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment, saying,
โ€œSchool is a safe learning space, wara dapat san nasasakitan didi.โ€

(School is a safe learning space, no one should get hurt here.)

Meanwhile, School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) President Andrei B. Diez urged the parents to support the new ID system. Through this, the SPTA will provide only one ID for each learner that is good for four years in Junior High School and two years in Senior High School while availing 20% student discount during travels. Diez likewise encouraged the parents to extend their support through giving of miscellaneous fees.

The ARAL program was also discussed, involving the schedule for students with different reading comprehension levels; learners with frustration level will attend a 5-day ARAL program.

Junior High Schoolโ€™s (JHS) General Parents-Teacher Assembly took place on July 4, where Grades 7, 8, and SNED parents and guardians attended in the morning, while Grades 9 and 10 attended the afternoon session.
