Last March 14, Teatro Rizal celebrated World Theatre Day by bringing the stage beyond the theatre and into the community of Barangay San Jose, Mandaluyong City. Through our outreach program, we spent the day with the children—teaching them the basics of acting, singing, and movement. In their laughter, confidence, and curiosity, we were reminded why we do what we do.

Sa bawat “Paano ba magsabi ng paalam?,” natutunan nating hindi ito pagtatapos—kundi isang tahimik na pagpapatuloy ng mga bagay na minsang naging atin.

Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin namin kayang magpaalam. Sa bawat larawan, bumabalik yung pagod, saya, kaba, at lahat ng laban na sabay-sabay naming hinarap. Hindi lang ito naging isang produksyon para sa amin—naging bahagi na ito ng kung sino kami.

At siguro, kaya ganito kahirap, dahil may pagmamahal sa bawat pagbitaw. Kaya sa ngayon, mananatili muna kami—sa alaala, sa kwento, at sa isa’t isa.

Congratulations to The Journal JRU on the release of its newest issue, “ΉΛYΛG” — a publication that continues to illuminate stories, truths, and experiences within the Rizalian community. 🌅✨

Teatro Rizal is also honored to share that BNG Curtains 11: Silakbo and “The Last Shabu Shabu” were featured in the “The Podium” section of the issue. We are grateful to be recognized and to have our work highlighted alongside the voices and stories that shape our community.

This Women’s Month, we reflect on the women who shaped the life and story of José Rizal—through love, inspiration, and the narratives that continue to live in history and art.💜

Like Co**ha, whose gentle sisterly presence filled Rizal’s early childhood with warmth and affection;
like Lolay, whose strength and guidance supported their family through life’s many trials;
like Leonor Rivera, whose quiet and enduring love inspired some of Rizal’s most heartfelt writings;
like Leonor Valenzuela, whose youthful romance revealed Rizal’s tenderness;
like Josephine Bracken, who stood beside him in the final chapter of his life;
and like Sisa, whose tragic story reflected the suffering of many Filipino mothers during the colonial period.

Through them, we are reminded that the story of a hero is never written alone. Their voices and stories continue to echo through history—and on our stage. 🎭✨

This World Theatre Day, Teatro Rizal celebrates the power of theatre not only on stage, but also in the community.🎭

In collaboration with the JRU Community Development Office, we will be holding an Outreach Program on March 14, 2025, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education—because learning, creativity, and imagination should be accessible to everyone.

We are accepting donations until Friday, March 13, 2026. Monetary donations are welcome, but we especially appreciate in-kind contributions, such as:

Forty years later, we hear leaders say they did what they had to do.
