We in the Mr. and Miss UE 2024 Committee sincerely apologize to the University’s Muslim students and the Muslim community in general for using the Crescent Moon and Masjid in our publication materials.

We have taken down the MMUE 2024 page and all posted materials featuring the said images. We deeply regret any offense the inappropriate use of these images may have caused.

We hold the Muslim community with the highest regard and respect and have learned an invaluable lesson from this experience. Moving forward, we will be more mindful and considerate in our actions to ensure that we honor and respect all cultures and beliefs.

As part of our commitment to improvement, the MMUE committee will implement cultural sensitivity training for our team members to understand better and respect the diverse communities we serve. We also want to emphasize that the MMUE 2024 candidates were not at all involved in the creation of the event’s visual materials.

In the future, the MMUE committee will refrain from using any cultural reference to avoid any potential misrepresentation or offense.
