Today, we stand in solidarity with the millions of Filipino fisherfolk whose hard work sustains our communities and strengthens our food security.
We commend Cong. Leila De Lima for delivering a privilege speech recognizing the invaluable contributions of our fisherfolk and highlighting the challenges they continue to face. This serves as a timely reminder that our fisherfolk are rights-holders deserving of protection, support, and meaningful representation.
One Pawikan Initiative is honored to join fellow advocates from Oceana, Mangrove Matters PH, and Wetlands International in advancing the rights, welfare, and sustainable livelihoods of Filipino fishing communities.
Para sa ating mga mangingisdaโproteksyon, suporta, at hustisya. ๐ฃโ๐ต๐ญ

๐ข Did you know? The Philippines is home to 12 turtle species โ 5 marine turtles and 7 freshwater turtles โ thriving in our oceans, rivers, lakes, and wetlands across the country.
This World Turtle Day, let us celebrate these ancient ocean navigators and freshwater guardians that play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems healthy and balanced. From the gentle marine turtles of our seas to the rare freshwater turtles found in our forests and rivers, every species deserves protection.
Together, let us protect their habitats, reduce pollution, and ensure that future generations will continue to witness these incredible creatures in the wild. ๐๐
