The Ateneo community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of men's basketball players Divine Adili and Rene Clert Baterbonia, who passed away following a drowning incident during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8.

“The entire Ateneo community mourns the loss of Rene and Divine,” the university said in a statement.

Adili, 21, suited up for the Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 88, while Baterbonia, 19, was preparing to make his highly anticipated debut in UAAP Season 89.

The tragedy came less than a week after Baterbonia moved to the Ateneo campus in Quezon City to begin a new chapter in his basketball journey.
